In an effort to stop them, the overworked Voice of God (Alan Rickman) taps cynical mortal Bethany (Linda Fiorentino) to save the world by preventing the angels from reaching their unholy destination: New Jersey! Throw in two unlikely prophets named Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith), the quick-witted yet little-known thirteenth apostle(Chris Rock) and a sexy, former muse with a case of writer`s block (Salma Hayek), and you`ve got an hysterical and thrilling race against time packed with an all-star cast that Entertainment Weekly called "one of the best movies of 1999!"

Your Opinions and Comments
The story isn't simple, Two renegade angels sent to earth for defying god learn a religious loop-hole that can get them back into heaven, but at the same time destroy the universe, This is when the powers above call upon the last psion, Bethany, who works in an abortion clinic and who's faith is completely lost.
She must stop the angels before they un-make existence, but not alone she has the help from two prophets… Jay and Silent Bob.
The Film is hilarious and doesn't take itself to seriously, with a great script from Smith and the main reason for being a Kevin Smith fan, but enough with the film lets begin on the DVD >:}.
Video: -
The picture is presented in and very crisp and very clear 2:35:1 Anamorphic transfer, with some scenes looking better than my original R2 version.
Audio: -
The audio comes in three languages, English, French and Spanish; the English is in Dolby Digital 5.1 while the other two languages are in Dolby 2.0.
While I only speak English I obviously went for the English 5.1, and it's a good but not mind blowing track, ok the dialogue and music are great being crisp and clear but very little use of the rears used only for ambient sound.
Extras: -
Ahhh this is why I sold my Region 1 and bought this R1 Special Edition… The Extras.
And this disk has lots to offer, with the first disk having 2 audio commentaries one for the Director, Cast And Crew which clips from the actual commentary recording, the other for The Director and technical staff, both are great, but the first being more hilarious than informing.
The Second disk having over 100 minutes of deleted and extended footage with View Askew crew intros.
Cast And Crew Outtakes, and complete set of storyboards from 3 major scenes.
Overall: -
I love this film, but the DVD left me a bit disappointed, with shelling out for a Special Edition, that really didn't deserve a two disk set. Although the Deleted scenes and audio commentaries made up for this, still not enough extras to satisfy my hunger for dogma.
Saying all that this package is 100% better than the extra-less versions and if you're a fan of the film this package if for you.
When two Angels (Ben Affleck and Matt Damon) are kicked out of heaven, they discover a loop-hole at a catholic church that will allow them to re-enter. But when an angel shows up in a faithless womans room, she is chosen to stop the angels from re-entering heaven. On her journey she is helped by two prophets (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith), the 13th apostle (Chris Rock) who was left out of the bible because he was black, and a Muse (Salma Hayek). The movie has the general feel of good vs. evil. Although some may interperet that the film is mocking religion or God, Kevin Smith explains in the beginning of the film that God has a sense of humor and the movie is not supposed to be taken seriously. The movie has a loveable cast and storyline and I think it is another great piece of work by writer/director Kevin Smith. A definite must-see for Kevin Smith fans.
The Special edition DVD Dogma is loaded with special features and is a 2-disc set. It contains 100 minutes of Deleted scenes, outakes, Cast and Crew Commentary, Talent Files, and much more. The picture and sound aren`t anything over the top because it is a comedy not meant to have the highest quality. But the movie itself along with the special features are great and overall I give this dvd a 10/10. Be sure to rent it if you enjoy a good laugh or appreciate Kevin Smith`s work.
