Decided to get it and so far not dissapointed. For the price I don`t think you can go wrong. It even came with AV sockets on the side to plug a Video camera into which I didn`t expect at this price. I`m not an expert but the picture quality seems ok to me and with NTSC playback, 2 SCART sockets, Fastext, various widescreen picture and sound modes it packs a lot of features in for the money.

It does look to be a re-badged Beko TV but at a lower "Aldi" price. I hope it keeps going ! My last TV was also a cheap 4:3 screen "Bush" TV but it still lasted 8 years and is still going strong.

Could it be the same as the Beko 28SF T27 TV model at the beko.com website ? It looks very similar to the Aldi Tevion one but the Beko one seems to be 100Hz and has more features.

ALDI TEVION TBCTV2800 28

Hi,

My local Aldi has 1 of these left and its only £169.99 which seems good for a 28" Widescreen TV. It says it is a flat screen and has 2 Scarts, NTSC playback, On screen display etc. Has anyone on this forum bought one and can tell me if it is a reasonable picture, sound and reasonably flat screen ?

Another quick question which springs to mind. Is this TV made by another company for Tevion in which case can I find any info on the internet about it. So far I couldn`t find any information about this TV anywhere on the Net.

Yes they are "reconditioned" but still come with 12 month guarantee so hopefully that will give some peace of mind. I don`t live anywhere near a Safeway unfortunately. I guess that maybe Asda and Tesco might be doing something cheap too but not sure.

If you look on ebuyer.co.uk in the "blowout" section you can get your hands on a 4 speed DVD +R / +RW drive retail version for around £45 to £55 inc VAT and postage. I just ordered a "Used" Mirror 4 X DVD +RW drive retail.

By the way has anyone ever ordered anything from the ebuyer "blowout deals" or got a Mirror DVD Burner ?

Nobody seems to have any stock of these anymore but I managed to find the e808 flip type which seems a bit more compact at the price of £49.99 on pay as you go from www.e2save.com. Has anyone else found the flip type one cheaper on pay as you go and in stock somewhere else ?

Good tip seems to be cheap. Have you ever had any Inkjet compatibles from them and how do they compare to the originals ? I usually buy Original Equipment cartridges from the Printer Company because of the ink quality but if compatibles are as good I may consider swapping in future.

I just noticed that some smartypants is selling refurb X73 printers with 1 year warranty on eBay for more than Novatech`s price. Money for old rope ! I presume he may be buying them from Novatech and then selling them on for a tidy profit. Why didn`t I think of that.

Got mine too today only 1 day after ordering ! A bit tatty box but contents inside as new. Also came with USB cable, Software CD, Inkjet Cartridges, Manual, Special 12months warranty with Trojan because from Novatech. My Inkjet Cartridges were a bit dried up but after a clean with a damp cotton wool bud working like a dream. Well worth it for the money but have you seen the price of the cartridges ? Lexmark seem to be the most expensive out there. Even compatibles are a bit expensive compared to others such as Epson. A damn good machine for the price though !

ps - can anyone recommend the cheapest online retailer for Original and re-manufactured cartridges ? The cheapest I found so far was www.ink2u.co.uk

I ordered one too. Been after a multifunction printer for ages but didn`t want to pay £100 + for it. Is there any disadvantage to this printer ? ie: they will soon stop doing cartridges for them or something ? Just wondering why they are so cheap compared to all the other shops. I know they are refurbs but its still cheap with 1 year guarantee too. My parents have had one for over 6 months now and it has never let them down yet. The cartridges are a little bit expensive though compared to my current Epson Stylus photo. I did compare the Lexmark X73 print quality to my old Epson Stylus photo and it looked as good to my eyes.

When I looked at this Novatech offer a few days ago they had 1200 in stock and now they have 900 so I expect they may sell out by the end of this week. Well spotted and thanks for the tip.

Further news. After a bit of complaining today and eventually talking to the original sales rep who took the order, Carphone Warehouse reluctantly agreed to honour the deal that I signed up for and give £50 for my old phone, charger and manual. They did tell me that there was an "internet error" but I threatened to send the phone back.

Fair play to Carphone Warehouse for admitting the mistake and honouring the deal.

I feel like Carphone Warehouse have ripped me off here ! I ordered my mobile on Wednesday night and the system confirmed there would be a £50 cheque back for my old phone including charger and manual. I did not receive a pre-paid Jiffy Bag to send my old phone back in when my new mobile arrived today. I called Carphone Warehouse and they told me there had been an "internet error" and that the cheque back is now only £10. I feel cheated but there is nothing I can do.

I have to say also that I have spent around 2 hours today stuck in Carphone Warehouse`s automated answer service and keep getting passed around different departments at Carphone Warehouse. Not the best customer service I`ve ever experienced ! It seems to me to be a trick to get people to sign up and then the deal changes once you have the phone and have connected. You can`t get through to customer services and get stuck with the phone. At this moment I am thinking to send the phone back.

Has anyone else bought this deal and did you get £50 cheque back for your old mobile ?

Me too !

No drawbacks I can see other than you have to pay your first 3 months rental (£39) till they give you your refund cheque. If you trade in your phone, charger and manual you can get £50 so that will cover it.

I am very interested in buying a used N64 console from Big Ben Interactive. I called them and they said the controllers are not included and they can`t supply them. So my next question is can anyone point me at a website or phone number for getting hold of some cheap controllers so the overall cost doesn`t go through the roof ?

I did a bit of sniffing around the support forum on the Psion homepage and found it the Wavefinder doesn`t work well with the Windows XP USB drivers. There is however a workaround for this which involves replacing the Win XP USB drivers with the Win 2000 ones and then it works a treat. Someone also kindly posted the instructions on how to do this on the form too !

I now have it working and I agree its pretty good. Next question is how do you eliminate the DJ`s voice from the recordings so you get just music ?

Win XP and Wavefinder nightmare

I received my Wavefinder today and its a bit dissapointing. I run Win XP and I get a constant stuttering and repeat cycling of the signal. It clearly doesn`t work very well with XP even though it says it should on Psion`s website. I think I`ll be sending it back to Psion ! I checked the forums and they recommend installing the Win 2000 USB drivers but its difficult to get hold of them from anywhere.
