Does the trick for getting 300 texts each month with just topping up once work?

I am not sure about the date that you change on your phone, should it be the date that you topped up or the date that your 300 free texts kick in as mine usually kick in the days after I have topped up as I believe it can take up to 24 hours before you get your 300 free texts.

I just need someone that can tell me how the £10 top up work around for the O2 genie sim cards works. I have read that when you top up with £10 you should remember that date and then when you run out of your 300 texts, you should change the date on you rphone back to the date that you topped up and not use the phone for that day. The next day you can chnage the date settings back to nor mal on your phone and then wait till the end of the month and you should get a message from O2 about your 300 texts.

Does this actually work?

O2 Genie sim query

I have got a O2 genie sim on which I put £10 worth of credit on yesterday little realising that I had to wait up to 24 hours before the 300 free texts kick in. So I sent loads od texts yesterday thinking that they would be free but I was getting charged and now my balance is down to £6.

However, today my balance stayed at £6 so the free 300 texts must have kicked in today.

Is my anniversary date for texts the date that I first put £10 credit on and activated the sim card i.e yesterday, or the date that my free 300 sims came into effect i.e. today?

Also will I have to top it up with £10 again next month?

You are right.

The toorent didn`t have much seeders which is why it din`t have graet download speeds.

I tried with some other well seeded ones and now I am getting 110kbps +. :)

Do these settings remain the same whether you are on 512K or 1MB?

Does that mean that if the person who hosts the file that is being downloaded is on a 512K connection, then all the downloaders can only get a max of 60kb/s?

I would have thought that it doesn't make a difference.

1MB Broadband speed

I was upgraded today from 512K to 1MB on my broadband connection.

I was really excited and thought that I would get 110Kb/s downloads on bittorrent as I used to get 56kb/s on my 512k connection.

I checked my download rate and I am only getting around 75Kb/s.

Why is this?

Do I need to alter anything?

I have DrTHCP and my settings for MTU on that are 1458. Should I leave this the same for 1MB instead of 512K?

I also have a Nokia 8210e on Orange but I really want to use my 6600 which is why I unlocked it. I don`t know why the screen goes a blank after a few seconds when I put my O2 sim in.

Well, when I insert the sim, the phone turns on and I get the orange welcome screen and then there is nothing on the network coverage bar and after a few seconds the screen just goes blank.

The phone is already unlocked becuse I remmber using the codes last time to unlock it and this time when I used the code it said something about the phone already been unlocked.

I used the DSC4 unlock settings.

Well I seem to have unlocked it now but it won`t accept my O2 genie PAYG sim.

I`m puzzled.

No, it`s on orange.

I just had the sim lock where you have to enter a code if the sim is changed.
