Scan 440Lsi

Is any one from scan still reading this?

After returning the 440 to you (which i advise anyone not to purchase) i am still waiting for a refund.

Mahesh and Derek and back to their old tricks of ignoring me....

So what do i do now?

Factory Reset

Does anybody know how to factory reset a pioneer 350, 454 or 550 DVD Player?

Thanks

RE: DVD player comparable to tosh 220 that plays DVD-RW

I`d say the Pioneer 350, 454 or 550.

Scan 440Lsi

*** Hey Mr Moderator, I know that strictly this message shouldn`t be posted here, but it`s the only way of getting Scan to talk to me, please could you leave it here as long as possible ***

Okay, so monday came and went, still no firmware upgrade that Scan promised to fixed the bad firmware that was sent last week.

So, Mahesh, Nilesh can you give me a full refund as promised in an earlier post on here?

Thanks for your help.

Mark

Scan....again and again....

Just a quick note to say thanks for all your support in the Scan
2500 and 440Lsi groups! It`s nice to know that someone else knows
what you`re going through.

As for the 440, yes I was sent that instead of the SC2500 after the
numerous faulty firmware fixes and stuff. The 440 is a better
machine but by default, Photo CD`s don`t work properly if their file
size is greater than about 200k, and what with most digital camera
pictures being around 1600 x 1200 and just < ~1mb, obviously
something had to be fixed. I was sent a firmware by nilesh, which
was supposed to fix this problem, instead it made matters a lot
worse. It ;

1. Completely changed the OS of the DVD Player including the GUI
2. It`s now fixed into NTSC mode
3. You can`t select menus anymore as the player randomly selects
them for you!
4. Subtitle`s are on by default all the time.
5. Most movies just display a black picture with sound.

As for Derek, you admitted yourself in an email that you had blocked
some of my mails.

I don`t expect an instant reply from your support, but I DO expect
to be acknowledged. As a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer
running an extremely busy helpdesk here, I`ve found that people
don`t mind being messed about so long as they know what is going
on. Why not send your staff on some Helpdesk Management Training
Sessions as they way your company looks after your customers is
appalling.

PS Just out of a matter of interest, we let our customers rate their
own calls and give a score from 1 to 10 when a call is complete.
Our average is currently 9.2, I wonder if you would dare to expose
your companies helpdesk like this and what would the score be on
yours !!!!

RE: Scan...again...

Nilesh, If that is that case, then why have scan put me through nearly 12 months of hell, trying to get a refund or these useless players?

It would have been so much simpler you just issuing the refund last march when i told you about the faults of the player. Instead you had to Send me faulty firmwares and then ignore my emails, phone calls and faxes and even solicitors warnings. You even went so far as to put a filter on my email address so that i couldn`t even mail you.

And now right out of the blue you are prepared to issue a refund. Hell yes I`ll accept it. You can arrange a collection as soon as you want.

Good riddance.

Scan...again...

fantastic! now scan are back to their usual tricks of ignoring me!

what fantastic customer un-service! First they send me two faulty sc2500`s with 4 firmware fixes that disable all the buttons on the unit, they now send me a firmware fix for my 440Lsi which has buggered up my player!

And now they won`t even talk to me!

What kind of a company is this?

RE: Scan 440Sli

Cheers, I know what Scan customer support is like !!!

One thing i didn`t mention is R1 Discs look really fuzzy when played through this player, same as the scan 2500. I can`t believe that my four year old Samsung 709 plays R1`s in better quality than this!

Ah well.

Scan 440Sli

Finally got a 440Sli to replace my Scan 2500.

Tried a variety of different discs R1, R2, SVCD, DVD-R, MP3`s, Photo
CD`s

All played back without problems, The machine did hang once on a CD-
R, which meant i had to power off the DVD Player from the mains and
then eject.

The MP3`s menu is better than the SC2500 in that in shows the folder
and track names, well only 8 chars but it`s better than D1, F1 that
the scan 2500 used to show!!!

The only problem is with displaying JPG`s on a CD-R. The picture
quality is pretty bad and a lot of the JPG`s i had on the CD
wouldn`t show up. I think this must be a maximum file size problem
as the ones i was using were all 1600 x 1200 and around 300k to 1.2
mb depending on the picture contents. The 300k ones worked but not
anything bigger than >~640kb

Apart from that the player is well worth cost of £99

If anyone finds a firmware update to fix the JPG slideshow, please
let me know!

Thanks

Mark

Scan SC2500 Firmware update

okay so I have the firmware update...now what do i do with it?

is 130 the latest? I burned it onto the root of a cdrw and stuck it in the drive and It tells me "bad disk"

Do i need to hold something down as i power up?

Cheers
