Advice on importing an American Blu-Ray DVD Player!!

I am thinking about buying an american blu-ray dvd player from Movietyme.com but need some advice as this is the first time of importing electrical goods.

Can anyone tell me what I would need to be able to import a blu-ray player as the one I am interested in is the Sony BDP-S300 which costs £339.99. On the description it says 120 volt. Is this compatible in the UK or what would I need to be able to get one of these machines.

I am thinking of this as I would then be able to play blu-ray from America and the UK as I have the UK PS3. Would this be of use to me getting an american one or is there a way to make the PS3 able to play the American blu-ray discs.

Your help in this matter would be apreciated.

PS3 Rcorded DVDs Setting Help Required

I have just played one of my recorded DVDs on the PS3 and it comes up with two black lines down the side of the screen even though it is set to letterbox can anyone help me? I use the same setting on my Hi Def Toshiba Player and it doesn`t have the black lines down the side of the screen which is why I am puzzled. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Toshiba HD-E1 DVD Player Region Free for HD DVDS

Hi there

If anyone has one of these HD DVD players please can you tell me if you can play American HD DVDs on them its just that I read that this machine is region free for HD DVDs but region 2 for standard DVDs. Can anbody help me on this matter?

RE: HDMI Connections for PS3 and Sky HD

Hi there

I have the same problem but I ordered one off EBAY for £38.48 but this includes a remote control to do the switching. Also if you have a sound system that only has one optical ouput as mine did you can buy an optical switcher on EBAY for £7.40.

I have just ordered my PS3 ready for when its launched. I was reading through my DVD Review magazine and it says that Blu-ray DVDs aren`t region coded. Can anybody tell me if this is true? Does anyone own a Blu-ray DVD that can clarify this matter for me?

New Playstation 3 Hack Help?

I have just ordered my playstation 3 as I wanted to be able to watch the blu-ray dvds as well as playing the games. Does anybody know if there is a region hack for it or knows if any of the playstation 2 dvd region x works on this machine!! Your help would be appreciated if anyone has this information.

Hi there

I have had a few hard disk drive recorders and the best one I have had so far is the Philips DVDR3300H which can be made multi region. But I am now about to get the Philips DVDR7250H which can also be made multi region, it has freeview, can record dolby digital 5.1 surround sound and can record on all formats of disk DVD +_ R/RW and DVD + DL disks and it has 160GB disk drive.

Also you can buy this from Empire Direct for £292.99 in the sale at the moment.

Philips 3300H owners for those who couldn`t get hack to work read this!!!

For all of those who own the Philips 3300H who couldn`t get the multi region hack to work then try the following trust me it does work this way.

Turn dvd recorder on.
Put into DVD mode.
Leave disc tray closed (very important bit)
Press play 159064135124255 play (fast)
Turn dvd recorder off.
Turn dvd recorder back on.

Hey presto it is now multi region, if it doesn`t work first time try it again typing in the numbers faster and it will work.

Let me know if any of you have had any success doing the hack this way.

Gone for JVC DR-MH20.

I have just ordered my JVC DR-MH20 from PRC Direct. I looked in Comet at two different machines this one and the Pioneer 420H, but I was told that the JVC had more features on it. Aslo I have looked at the instruction booklet on the JVC website and it appears to have all the connectors and all the features that I wanted.

If anyone is still thinking about getting one I will post a review for you about it once I have received it and tested it out.

Pioneer DVR420H or JVC DRMH20 which one need help by Wednesday??

I am thinking of getting a HDD DVD recorder and I am undecided between the Pioneer DVR420H and the JVC DRMH20 please could anyone give me some advice. Also do any of these machines have menu screens that you can choose from?

Brilliant piece of hardware I have recently got the Sky+160 and you have even more space to record either your films, sports or favorite tv shows. Also when you record on Sky + you get rid of that annoying interactive button and you can watch programmes when you want to watch them.
