RE: Buying Music from Canada
You can pre-order a `signed copy` for CA$14.99 plus shipping from www.maplemusic.com
The shipping date is listed as 25 April, 2006.
Two other releases by the band ( album and e.p. ) also listed on the site.
RE: Can someone check something for me on DVDSoon.com...
This happens to me on a regular basis and appears to be an intermittent problem. Try again tomorrow and you will probably manage to logon without any problem.
RE: Stargate SG-1: Season 1 help
Strange one. If that is the case then numerous sites ( Rewind; MichaelDVD to name but two ) have got it very wrong as they claim the set has Dutch, English HoH and German HoH subtitles and two or three audio options.
As I said earlier , I have the Region One set. When I load disc one, I get the Stargate screen along with the instruction `Enter The Stargate.` Selecting same brings up a menu asking me to select (1) The Pilot (2) Episode 1 (2) Episode 3. Selecting any of these options then brings up the Audio/Subtitle options.
Many thanks for double checking. It would seem Edu is out of luck.

RE: Stargate SG-1: Season 1 help
Are you sure? My understanding is that there are Dutch, English HoH and German HoH subtitles on the Region 2 release of Stargate SG-1: Season One.
I have the Region 1 set and there is no mention of subtitles on the slipcase or dvd cases but when you insert the discs and select `Languages` it offers you English, French and Spanish soundtracks and English, French and Spanish subtitles. If you have not already done so, pop a disc into your player and see what it lists under `Languages.`
RE: DVDSoon.com - an offer for those without the Fidelity Card
The Godfather DVD Collection ( Region 1 ) is currently available from AxelMusic for £19.99 including postage. They ship from various countries within the E.U. ( Denmark, Germany and Holland ) so there is no risk of customs charges. If you do decide to purchase it from them make sure to choose British Pounds as your currency as it will cost slighly more if you pay in Euros or Danish Kroner.
They are also selling the Region 2 edition of the above set for £36.99.
RE: LOTR gift sets for a ridiculous price at DVDSOON!!!
Place three individual orders and DVDSoon will ship them separately. Since each order will be valued at less than £18 you will not incur any customs charges.
RE: Buffy and Angel boxsets just £17.99
Use them regularly. Excellent company.

RE: DVDSoon - beating Customs - but it`s hard work!
posted by Saqib: but royal-kiss-my-ass-mail don`t refund their handling charge of £4.
Yes they do. I recently took delivery of a box set at which time I had to pay £7.24 in charges ( Customs - £3.24; Royal Mail - £4.00 ) due to the fact that DVDSoon had listed the pre-discount price on the customs declaration label. I successfully appealed to Customs/Royal Mail both of whom refunded their charges within 10/14 days.
RE: Did/Has anyone gone back to using DVD Pacific?
No need to go back as I never left. I started using them in May, 2003, and have never had a single problem ( credit card or otherwise.) Excellent company in my opinion.
RE: Takeshi Kitano`s
Cheers Arf. Ordered Kikujiro and Hana & Alice L.E. from them this afternoon.

Are they reliable as I have never used them?

RE: Takeshi Kitano`s "Kikujiro" on DVD
The Korean R3 ( released by Enter One ) which was reviewed by DVDBeaver appears to be out of print as I cannot find any sign of it at YesAsia etc.
RE: Advice required regarding dvdsoon please
I purchased some cd`s from a company in Canada on 22 January, 2005. They shipped on 25 January, 2005, and arrived yesterday so two weeks is nothing unusual. Delivery times are invariably much slower when Customs intervene and impose charges.
In my experience, items sent by DVDSoon, which are valued in excess of £18, rarely get through Customs unscathed these days so the chances are you will receive a notice from the Royal Mail in the near future informing you that they are holding a package on which duty must be paid. If it is valued at CA$179 you could be looking at a charge somewhere in the region of £15 to £20.

RE: CDWOW to close?
In my experience CDWow have always charged at the time the order is placed.
RE: Recommend me films
Dance With The Wind ( Region 3 )
The remainder of the following review can be found at www.koreanfilm.org :-
Dance With the Wind is the directorial debut of Park Jung-woo, who probably ranks as Korea`s most famous screenwriter. The man behind such famous stories as Attack the Gas Station, Last Present, Kick the Moon, Break Out and Jail Breakers takes a departure from the slapstick comedy of his previous works to present a nuanced and funny account of a self-proclaimed artist who will never be recognized as such. Park shows a particularly fine grasp for comic details, and watching this film makes you look forward to seeing what kind of projects he will go on to direct in the future.
RE: Dvd Soon - Dvd lost in post
My copy of La Femme Nikita which was posted on 21 December, 2004, arrived this morning so there is every chance that your disc set will arrive early next week.
RE: DVDSoon.com - 25% off all orders for ifidelity card holders
DeepDiscountDVD ship to France and then into the U.K. but their packages are being intercepted by Customs who are imposing charges on orders valued in excess of £18. The only foreign company I am aware of who claim to pay VAT/Duty on behalf of their customers is YesAsia. I am not saying it cannot be done but if Customs latch on to same they will take action.
RE: DVDSoon.com - 25% off all orders for ifidelity card holders
The problem for DVDSoon is that if they continue to offer free shipping to everyone after 31 December, 2004, then they run the risk of alienating those customers who have purchased the Fidelity iCard. Since the people who have purchased the said card are likely to be those who purchase large numbers of discs in a year I would be very surprised if they would want to upset them in any way.
Surely it cannot be viable for any company to ship a DVD from Canada to the U.K. for CA$6.98/CA$7.98. To be honest, I doubt very much if they even make a profit on a disc shipped to the U.K. at a cost of CA$13.98.
As regards box sets arriving without additional charges, I suspect DVDSoon and certain other companies ( DVDPacific; Deep DiscountDVD ) attracted the attention of Customs due to the amount of orders they were shipping into the U.K. If enough people start placing orders with the company you mentioned then I would expect Customs to take action sooner rather than later.

RE: DVDSoon.com - 25% off all orders for ifidelity card holders
The Fidelity iCard offers a standard 5% discount off purchases ( plus an additional 1% for each year your DVDSoon Account has been opened ) plus free standard shipping which leads me to believe that the current free standard shipping offer will in fact end on 31 December, 2004.

For me, he was at his best when he recorded the songs of Jimmy Webb and his album Reunited ( with Jimmy Webb ) is one of my alltime favourites.
RE: DVD Soon - Daft Question
Usually between 5-10 days in my experience. Longer than that is normally an indicator of Customs involvement.

Shots On Target: Portugal 7 England 6. One of the few stats that matters shows we were virtually neck and neck.
I do like how you conveniently ignore the more important statistics such as possession, territory, shots off target and corners.

RE: Portugal V England (poss spoilers)
The following statistics ( if accurate ) would suggest that Portugal were the better team on the night.
Possession: Portugal 58% England 42%
Territory: Portugal 52% England 48%
Shots On Target: Portugal 7 England 6
Shots Off Target: Portugal 18 England 5
Blocked Shots: Portugal 13 England 3
Corners: Portugal 13 England 9
Fouls: Portugal 17 England 24
Offsides: Portugal 4 England 2
RE: Waltons Series 1 DVD Soon Vs DVD pacific
I belive the Waltons Series 1 is a five disc set. If so, then DVDPacific will charge £3.79 for the International Surface Mail option ( i.e. £1.09 + £0.54 per disc ) and £5.44 for the International Priority Airmail option ( i.e. £2.74 + £0.54 per disc.)
RE: 24 season 1
To be honest there is so little Swedish language on the back cover that it is barely noticeable. The language on the front cover, spine and discs is in English as is the sixteen page insert which gives a synopsis of each episode.

The four refunds were paid into my bank account late this afternoon. No letter as yet but I expect one will arrive in the next couple of days. Many thanks for your offer of help.

RE: SPLASHDVD OUT OF BUSINESS
Mark
I contacted them again this morning at which time I was informed that a letter was being sent out today explaining that the refunds had been agreed and would be paid into my bank account within the next few days. When I explained that I was aware of people who had already been refunded despite the fact that they initiated the chargeback/dispute process well after I did, they were unable to offer any explanation for same. As regards the telephone number of the Nationwide Visa Disputes Officer, if the refunds do not appear in my account by the end of this week I will get back in touch and take you up on your kind offer. Since I initially raised the issue with the Nationwide on 16 February, 2004, I have to say I am less than impressed with the level of service I have received from them regarding this issue.
