LG 5095 a dud?

Hi,
I went to richer sounds to get a DVD player up to £250, multiregion that will also play CD`s pretty well. I was after a Toshiba SD2200 but they didn`t have any in stock and so I was persuaded to get a LG 5095. When I was leaving I noticed they were pushing this pretty hard and after reading the reviews here people don`t appear that impressed. Is it any good or should I take it back and get my money back / exchange it?

Recommended Systems

I`m looking to get a DVD player to compliment by system (Marantz SR4200, Wharfedale 83`s, 8C and Mission 77DS), but noticed that the forum is full of people asking similar questions. Do you have a list of recommended compnents based on price, culled from all the various posts?
BTW, I can afford (?) to spend up to £300 and was looking at the Marantz DV4100ose as I will want to play CDs as well until I can afford to get a dedicated player.

RE: Advice on which amplifier?

I`m also looking for an amp, but also need to connect it to my small form factor PC for playing mp3 files etc via the SPDIF or the 3.5mm front, rear and center/bass connectors. I`m also hoping to spend at least half that of Shenkman.
