Advice Needed - What is the best DVD recorder to get for around the 300-350 pounds mark?

Hello all,

I want to buy a good DVD recorder for about 300-350 pounds. I would like the recorder to be able to copy and re-record discs that can be played in existing DVD Players, and also ideally one that is multiregion.

So far ones I have seen around this price range are:-

Phillips DVDR75 with i-link and multiregion DVD+RW/DVD+R copier for 300 pounds
JVC DRM1 DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and DVD-R for 300 pounds (but cannot find a multiregion code)
Toshiba DR1 multiregion DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and DVD-R for 330 pounds.

Would you recommend any of these? Or are others better with more features in this price range? Which format is best Phillips DVR+RW or DVD-RW?

As I say my main criteria is to be able to play recordings on existing DVD players, ease of use, multiregion and also a digital optical sound output to connect to my Dolby Digital TV.

Thanks in advance for your help

Andy M

Advice Needed - Does anyone know anything about the Toshiba DR1 DVD Recorder?

As I am thinking of buying one?

Can you please help with advice like:-

If you have purchased one?
How long you have had it for and if you have found it easy to use/set up/any problems?
Do discs made on the Toshiba DR1 play ok in standard DVD players?
Would you recommend this DVD Recorder?
Is it multiregion? If so have you had any problems playing discs?

Thanks in advance for your help and advice

Please Help - does anyone know a Region Hack for the JVC DR-M1 DVD Recorder

Please can anyone help regarding this recorder - does anyone know a region hack for this machine as I am thinking of purchasing one?

Also if you have one, what do you think of it? Would you recommend it? and do recordings made on the JVC DR-M1 play in existing standard DVD Players ok?

Thanks in advance for your replies and also Happy New Year!

RE: ADVICE PLEASE!! Goodmans DVD 3600PKT DVD/5.1 Dolby Digital System

Please can someone offer me some advice on this player, or the one from Safeways that a lot of people on this site are discussing, can you connect your tv and video to these and have them in surround sound?

Please help

ADVICE PLEASE!! Goodmans DVD 3600PKT DVD/5.1 Dolby Digital System

Hello,

Can anyone give my some info on the Home Cinema Kit listed above that is available from Comet at £149.99.

Firstly does anyone know if there is a region code available for it, I know on this site there is a remote hack for the Goodmans 3500 player, but not for this one?

Does anyone know if this plays DVD-R`s VCD`s etc, it says on the Comet website that its got a radio tuner in it also.

If anyone has bought one of these kits can you give me some feedback as to if you think it is any good or not.

I am looking to get a budget home cinema system for £150, so if anyone can recommend one that can play anything you throw at it that would be great!

Thanks

Andy

Pioneer DV350 Multi-region plays Region 1 discs in Black and White please help!!!!

Hello All,

I have just purchased a Pioneer DV350 Multi Region player from dvdplayers.co.uk, it is supposed to be multi region and came coded as such. After trying it on 3 different tv`s I find to my horror that it plays any Region 1 NTSC discs in Black and White, but plays region 2 fine as expected - the machine is supposed to be PAL/NTSC but doesn`t work - has anyone got any ideas cos I am stuck. I am assuming there is some problem with PAL/NTSC compatability

Please help

Andy

Please help - BEST PLAYER ADVICE - need a Black Multiregion DVD Player for £120 or under....

Hello, Please can you help - I am having a nightmare getting hold of a Cyberhome DV402 Black player priced £79.99, I really want a black player to match the rest of my stuff, I have being trying for 3 weeks to get this player from 2 different mail order companies (Special Reserve and Gameloaded) but to no avail!!!, No Stock, messed up order etc.

Can anyone recommend a decent cheap Black DVD Player that can be remote control coded to be region free and can play anything you throw at it? Either high street store, or anywhere really!, and from a company who will send it out asap????

Please help!!!!!

PS I asked WHSmiths if they sell the Black one (as I have a silver one in my bedroom and its good) but they don`t stock the Black one

Cyberhome CH402 DVD Player won`t play DVD-R`s

Hello, Does anyone know if the Cyberhome CH402 DVD Player available on some websites and from WHSmiths at £79.99 will play DVD-R and DVD-RW`s as my Uncle is a cameraman and has filmed my wedding and put it on DVD but it wont play in the player.

Do I have to put the code in the player to make it region free for this to play. I think he used some memorex DVD-R`s, he has tried it in 2 other DVD players and it works fine, someone on this site posted a reply to say they had got DVD-R`s to work in their player, but I still can`t seem to get it to work.

Also another question about the above Cyberhome DVD Player - can anyone recommend a surround sound speaker set for it and a price - I would really like a 5.1/DTS kit to enhance my system and was wondering if anyone could suggest any?

Thanks

Cyberhome CH402 DVD Player won`t play DVD-R`s

Hello,

I have purchased a Cyberhome CH402 from WHSmiths as it seems to be a highly recommended budget player, so far it has played everything I have put in it, any region DVD and VCD.

But it won`t play a DVD-R made by my uncle who is a video cameraman - the DVD-R has been tried on a couple of different players and works fine, is there something I need to do to make this play, or should it play them. I have put in the region hack that is available on this website.

Can anyone help me

Thanks

RE: HELP! winDVD program (I know its not hardware but you guys in this forum are the best!)

I have an ASUS motherboard with 6 channel surround sound - set up to produce that, I have Videologic 5.1 speaker set - 5 small speakers and 1 sub woofer, the system is fine as when playing games etc it is in surround sound. The problem is with the piece of software, I think because its the OEM version of winDVD it doesn`t have all the features unlocked, but I was wondering if there was a way round this by entering a different serial code when installing, or crack/hack that will remove the lock on some of the options.

I thought like you that it was a problem with my hardware at first, but it isn`t, any ideas???

HELP! winDVD program (I know its not hardware but you guys in this forum are the best!)

I am having a problem with winDVD on my PC, the OEM version given to me by my PC manufacturer doesn`t allow me to select 6 channel 5.1 surround sound from the menu, it has the select box for it greyed out and cannot be selected from the sound menu.

Please can anyone help, does anyone know a different serial number to use when installing the program which will activate this feature or a patch/crack that will remove the "Greyed out" boxes and let me select it?? Thanks

Cannot have 6 Channel 5.1 Surround Sound on winDVD

Hello please can someone help me, the OEM version of winDVD that I was given with my PC only allows 2 channel stereo sound and doesn`t let me access the 6 channel surround sound option from the sound menu, does anyone have a different serial code I can use when installing this which corrects this problem, or a patch in order to solve this, thanks

RE: Please Help Hack required for Bush DVD142RC TV/DVD Combi

Are you sure this works? As people seem to have posted notes about this player before and have been given codes that don`t work?

Does it come up with a menu or say something that makes it multi-region?

I don`t really want to buy the machine and find it doesn`t work with the code

Thanks Andy M
