RE: Sharp DVSL10 dvd hack

Clayts, I have the Sharp SD-AT50 home cinema system and the DVD player with it is the DX-AT50, on the bottom it says "Made in China". Any chance this is a Sampo clone??? The first four digits of the serial number are 2090.

RE: SharpSD-AT100 Help region free

It`s the home cinema system right? I have the SD-AT50, and as far as I am aware, there is NO region hack for it. I even spoke to Sharp who said it`s company policy to make theire players region specific only and not region-hackable.

RE: Why don`t folks check a player can be hacked BEFORE they buy it ?

Also take into account the situtations peopel may be in when buying the players. For example, my situation when I purchased my Sharp Home Cinema System:

It was the last day of the sale at dixons, the rrp of the system is £399, they were selling it for £199. I was due to go to work soon, so did not have time to check things out on the net, as the shop would be closed by the time work finished. I`ve wanted surround sound for AGES and saw this as too much of a bargain to pass up, multi-region or not. It sounds great and the picture quality is better then my Grundig. The only thing wrong with it is that is doesn`t play R1`s. But I can`t remember the last time I bought a R1 disc. So it looks like I`ll be sticking to R2 from now on.

RE: Will I get better quality using S-Video to S-Video....

Nope, it`s a Sharp DX-AT50, it comes with the Sharp SD-AT50H Home Cinema system, the only things wrong with it are the lack of a scart socket and no multi-region, I wouldn`t pay £399 for it, which is what it retails for, but I bought it for £199 in a sale :)

RE: Will I get better quality using S-Video to S-Video....

Thankyou, you just save me forking out for a new TV. I`ll make a BIG spend on a component input TV in the future.

Thanks

Will I get better quality using S-Video to S-Video....

...as opposed to S-Video to scart? My TV only has Scart sockets and my DVD player only has Component and S-Video. And as I can`t afford a TV with Component inputs I`m limited to tv`s with S-Video. But is it worth it?

RE: Just spoke to Sharp CS about a region hack - muppets!!

It was the last day of the sale, I had work later on so couldn`t check it out on the net and then come back, and it was half price!! It retails for £399, I had it for £199, multi-region or not it was a bargain. I haven`t bought any R1 dvd`s for ages anyway as most dvd`s now get worldwide releases or are released shortly after (sometimes before) the R1`s. Also my friend has the Sharp DV740H which IS hackable, so I took a chance that this might be too.

RE: Just spoke to Sharp CS about a region hack - muppets!!

Yeah, looks like I`ll have to buy the R2 versions of the films I have in R1. :(

Just spoke to Sharp CS about a region hack - muppets!!

I saw another thread on here asking about how to find out a region hack for yourself, one suggestion was to simply ring the manufacturer and ask. So that`s exactly what I did! I`ve got a Sharp SD-AT50H Home Cinema kit, and the DVD player (DX-AT50) at present is R2 only. I rung and asked and the guy said it`s Sharp policy not to make their DVD players region hackable, the guy also said that there are NO hackable Sharp DVD players at all. I told him this was rubbish as the DV740H player is hackable using a disc!! He just repeated the "it`s company policy not to make them region hackable" tosh. He also said he can only go by what he`s been trained on.

Hmmmm, methinks Sharp aren`t telling their CS staff all the facts. So I`m still without a region hack. There`s got to be SOME way of hacking it!! I`ve also had trouble finding out info about this system on the net.

Cheapest Widescreen TV with Component inputs?

My new DVD player doesn`t have scart, only S-Video and Component. I`m using an S-Video to Scart lead at the moment and my tv is only 24". I`m looking for a 28" or 32" tv with component inputs, the cheaper the better!! Any ideas??

Cheers

Brigand

RE: Help please. S-Video to Scart lead causing black and white picture

Heh, nah I`ve sorted it now, the TV had to be set accept S-Video through the scart. Sorted now :)

Help please. S-Video to Scart lead causing black and white picture

I`ve got a Sharp Home Cinema system and the dvd player that comes with it doesn`t have a scart socket but it does have an S-Video socket. It`s the SD-AT50H system with the DX-AT50 dvd player. I bought an IXOS S-Video to Scart lead, cost a pretty penny, but the picture`s coming up in black and white??? I`ve tried a different scart socket on my TV (the non-RGB one) and that just looks fuzzy black and white. Any ideas?

Cheers

RE: Help please, RGB Composite to scart connector??

DOH! There`s an S-Video socket too, so all I need is an S-Video to Scart lead right??

RE: Help please, RGB Composite to scart connector??

Price may or may not be an issue, you say it aint cheap, how uncheap is it, roughly?

Help please, RGB Composite to scart connector??

I just today got a Sharp SD-AT50H Home Cinema system (half price at dixons). The dvd player doesn`t have a scart connector, it has a normal yellow video connector and thre composite connectors (1 for Red, 1 for Green and 1 for Blue).

What I want to know is, can I get a cable that will go from the three composite connectors on my dvd player to a scart socket on my tv. The system did not come with one unfortunately.

Cheers in advance
