RE: Lucky Number Slevin
Yeah I have to agree as well as it is one of the best films I have seen this year. I wasnt expecting much after reading a terrible review in Empire but I was very surprised as it is really good and well worth going to see!
Dodgeball DVD?
I have preordered Dodgeball on Region 1 which is released on the 7th of December however I recently heard that the Region 2 version which is released in Jan 05 is a two disc version and will have have more extras than the Region 1 version. I dont know if this true as I dont want to buy the Region 1 version and then have the better version released later.
However the extras on the Region 1 version do look really good though as it has got Audio commentary with writer/director Rawson Marshall Thurber and actors Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn, 6 Easter eggs, 7 Deleted/Extended scenes with optional commentary by the director, an alternate ending with optional director`s commentary, The Dodgeball Boot Camp: Training for Dodgeball, The Anatomy of a Hit, Dodgeball: Go for the Gold and Justin, Long: A Study in Ham & Cheese featurettes, Bloopers and a gag reel, Trailers, teasers for The Ringer and Elektra and the screenplay via DVD-ROM. Does anybody know what the extras are on the Region 2 version are?
RE: Please recommend a Region 1 supplier!
I have not used CD Wow yet but I think I will use them for the next Region 1 DVD I order. I have ordered Region 1 DVD from US Direct which always supplies Canadian DVDs, DVD Limited which was quite good apart from the fact you have to sign for the DVDs when they are delivered. Dvdworldusa I had no problems with usually but they are quite quick apart from Hellboy Directors Cut which took more than 2 weeks for it to arrive however they are always Amercian DVDs. I have yet to use a Region 1 supplier which has involved me having to pay customs charges!

RE: Oldboy... so who has seen it?
Yes to your spoiler question! I have checked CD Wow and I cant find Oldboy on there to order on Region 3 so it looks like I am too late to order this version. Does anybody know when its going to be released on Region 2?
RE: Oldboy... so who has seen it?
Thanks for the advice I will have to buy the Region 3 DVD soon!
RE: Oldboy... so who has seen it?
I really enjoyed it but it wasnt at all what I expected.I dont want to say too much as it will spoil it for people who havnt seen it. I would say it was one of the best films I have seen this year and I am very tempted to order the Region 3 DVD!
RE: Oldboy... so who has seen it?
Yeah it only started showing it at my local UGC cinema on friday and I am going to see it tonight. I hope it is as good as I have heard!
RE: Hellboy R1 Directors Cut?
I got my copy of Hellboy DC through yesterday after wating about two weeks for it to be delivered however I wont be watching it untill I have time over the weekend. I cant wait to watch it through as I refused to buy the 2 disc version as I knew this was coming out. It does say on my copy that it is unrated but does this mean that the film is a lot gorier than than the original version?
RE: Bad Santa!!
I have wanting to see this film since it was released in America last year. However I didnt want to buy the Region 1 DVD untill I had seen it in the cinema. Its a pity it has taken so long for it to be released in the UK but I think they would want to release it around the Christmas time. That is why I am going to order the Region 1 DVD if I enjoy it in the cinema as I cant see it coming out on Region 2 DVD till November 2005 as it took them a year to release Elf on DVD!
RE: Alien vs Predator......rubbish! (no spoilers)
I went to see AVP expecting it to be rubbish however I was surprised as it was good but nothing special. The acting in it wasn’t the best but that wasn’t why I went to see it as I want to see some Aliens and Predators fight and that is what I got!
If I remeber correctly when Alien was rereleased in the cinema this time last year it was given a 15 certificate!
RE: Layer Cake - opinions
I think the problem with Layer Cake is that people went to see it expecting to see another Lock Stock or Snatch which this film definatly wasnt instead you get a quite serious gangster film with only slights bit of comedy. I thought it was really good and definatly one of the best films I have seen recently expect for Saw!
RE: What have you bought/preordered this month (September)?
I have not bought/preordered many DVDs this month. I have only bought The Lost Boys and Shaun Of The Dead. I have preordered Hellboy: Directors Cut and Dodgeball. I would have bought The Star Wars Trilogy but that going to be bought for me as a Christmas present so I have to resist the urge to buy it!
RE: The Punisher - DVD R1 release tomorrow, any good? *poss spoilers*
I have yet to see this new version of The Punisher but I am really looking forward to it as I loved the comics when I was younger!
I hope it is a lot better than the original version with Dolph. A friend of mine bought the Dolph version of The Punisher recently on video from Oxfam for only £3. He said that in a local comic book shop a video of the Dolph version of The Punisher was being sold for £60 as it has been deleted and is no longer available to buy because of this new version being released!
Quantum Leap on Region 2?
Does anybody know if there are any plans to start releasing Quantum Leap series on DVD on Region 2?
They have already released the first series on Region 1 and the second series will be out soon as well. I was wondering if it was worth waiting for a Region 2 release or to buy the Region 1 versions?
RE: Goonies on region 2 dvd
Is this Region 2 version of The Goonies that is being released in October the same film version that was released on Region 1 about 2 years ago?
The extras on the Region 2 seem to be the same as the Region 1 version!
RE: Anchorman
Appartenly the Region 1 DVD release will be available to own in numerous editions from the 28th December. Firstly, there will be an extended edition of the film, which will introduce around ten minutes of additional footage. Details on extra material have yet to be released. A gift set will also be available from the same day. This will include the extended edition of the film, along with another feature length film entitled Wake Up Ron Burgundy. A Ron Burgundy`s Month to View Journal will also be included. Finally, the theatrical cut of the film will be available too. I think I will be getting the giftset with the extra feature length film!
RE: Anchorman
I saw this on Saturday and thought it was a great film and as good as Dodgeball if not better. I cant understand how you can enjoy dodgeball and not like anchorman. I cant wait to get this on DVD especially as there is meant to be enough outtakes to have a whole new film as shown by the fact that parts of the trailer wernt in the film.Me and my mates laughed all the way through this film but there were people in the cinema with us who didnt laugh once which I was amazed at but it does depend on your sense of humour!
RE: Open Water
I went to see this on Sunday and it was a very slow and boring film which seemed to go on for over 2hrs even though its only 90 mins long. I have to agree that the acting was rubbish through out the film.I saw this and Envy over the weekend and these were the worst films I have seen this summer. I think this is one film that definatly doesnt live up to the hype as it doesnt even come close!
RE: Dodgeball: A true underdog story
This was the funniest film I have seen all year and I can wait to get it on DVD. Appartenly is going to be released on Region 1 on the 7th of December and they havnt annouced any extras yet. I cant see the Region 2 DVD being out untill Feb Or March at earliest!
RE: Shaun Of The Dead
I have preordered Shaun Of The Dead from Play for £12.59 as I had a 10% discount voucher and I cant wait for it to arrive it. The extras on it sound amazing for an amazing film. I noticed that Dawn Of The Dead (2004) changed the DVD release date from the same day as I was looking forward to a zombie fest on monday but Shaun will do. Only 4 days left to wait!
RE: A Tale of Two Sisters - Superb!!!!
Sorry my mistake!
Its still a great film though but I am very tempted to pick up the region 3 DVD from CD Wow as it is very cheap!
RE: A Tale of Two Sisters - Superb!!!!
I saw this in the cinema on Saturday and really enjoyed it. Its quite different to other films like The Ring and Dark Water as it has quite a few twists in this film. However some parts did remind me of The Ring but that is always common with Japanese Horror films.
Its definatly worth seeing and I was quite surprised at how packed the screening was of this at my local UGC cinema. It was better than Dark Water which I was disappointed by when I saw it but I didnt think it was good as the Ring!
RE: Lucas To Make `Star Wars` Sequels?
It seems that all the rumours about new star wars films after Episode 3 is just fanboy hope
I saw this this on Moviehole earlier about the new films:
"Talking to Moviehole this morning, Lucasfilm are quick to state that there won`t be any further "Star Wars" movies, adding that news about employees having had to sign a non-disclosure agreement with something about the sequels on them is false, because agreements are never film-specific there.
John Singh, of Lucasfilm, tells Moviehole : "The rumors of "Star Wars" VII, VIII and IX are absolutely false. "Star Wars" Episode III: "Revenge of the Sith" is being released worldwide on May 19, 2005, is our last and final installment. ILM employees sign a standard non-disclosure agreement that does not pertain to any particular film or project."
As much as I`d be interested to see what Lucas can do with a post-"Return of the Jedi" story, you`ve gotta admit : there`s gonna be some severe CGI needed to make Mark Hammil, Carrie Fisher and company look younger. In addition, can anyone actually see Harrison Ford signing on to reprise his role as Han Solo? Buckleys chance there.
Still, you never know, we mightn`t have seen the last of the "Star Wars" world. There`s rumours of a TV series too remember - and that ones yet to be debunked. In fact, IESB heard from a source who says that might be what Lucasfilm have in mind. Says the site, "I received an email from one of our sources deep inside the world of LFL who is backing up TheForce.net`s claim that there is indeed rumblings up in "The Ranch" regarding the rumored sequels. We were told that "Uncle George" isn`t planning to make anymore theatrical movies but he is looking at a possible animated TV series that might take advantage of Lucasfilm`s new Singapore animation venture that was announced a few weeks ago. That is the only way that we will ever see Luke, Han, Leia and the rest of the gang in any new adventure that would take place after Jedi.I was also reminded by our "friend" over at LFL of our video interview that we had with Steve Sansweet at Comic-Con last month where he clearly stated that they are indeed looking at several different avenues for Star Wars including animated and live action weekly TV".
Grosse Pointe Blank DVD Special Edition
Does anybody know if there are any plans to release a special edition of Grosse Pointe Blank on DVD soon?
This film is a classic and there should be a special edition for it. The Region 2 version doesnt have any extras on it and the Region 1 release only has a trailer as an extra which does seem pathetic for such a great film!
RE: Live Action `Transformers` movie confirmed for 2006...
I hope this new Transformers movie turns out to be half as good as the classic original movie then I will be happy!
I saw the original film when I was younger and thought it was amazing. I bought it recently on DVD and the film is still as great as when I was younger.
I have high hopes for this new film and I cant wait for 2006 to see it!
Bah weep granah weep ninni bong.
RE: Highwaymen
I saw the trailer for it loads in my local UGC cinema but then the film was never shown there which did seem really strange as why show trailers for a film that they dont intend to show!
RE: When is Shaun Of Dead DVD Being Released?
I have just seen on DVD answers that the release date is confirmed as the 6th of September so just over a month to wait!
The extra sound really good as well as they include an audio commentary by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, a second commentary by Pegg and co-stars Nick Frost, Dylan Moran, Kate Ashfield and Lucy Davis, a third with stars Bill Nighy and Penelope Wilton and a fourth by the zombies themselves!
The disc will also feature extended bits with commentary, outtakes, a Man Who Would Be Shaun feature in which Simon Pegg and Nick Frost impersonate Sean Connery and Michael Caine and a new Funky Pete sequence in which Pete`s swearing sequence is re-dubbed.
Three comic strip sequences will fill in some of the plotholes (such as how did Ed get from the cellar to the shed) and a TV Bits feature which carries extended versions of the TV shows within the movie (Coldplay on T4, It`s a Knockout Zombies, Trisha etc). Completing the set will be A Raw Meat making of featurette, five trailers and TV spots, three Zombie pic galleries, a storyboard comparison and a Zomb-O-Meter trivia track.
The extras sound great for it!
RE: Hellboy - Director`s Cut for UK cinema release?
I read on Superhero Hype a comment from Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro in which he states that the extended edition wont be out in Europe and Japan for the cinema release however it will be out for the French version. Below is what he said about the directors cut, DVD and sequel:
“Director`s cut: I was hoping to have it released in Europe and Japan. As it turns out it will released theatrically only in France...
DVD (Director`s cut): Comes out in November (3 discs) all the same extras (minus commntary track original) but with an extra disc full of features. The special box edition will have a SIDESHOW HELLBOY mini-bust. This disc has my preferred cut (15 extra mnutes but they go a loong way in terms of story and character) and a new commentary track that I feel very happy with.
SEQUEL: More on this later, but lemme say this: The storyline for it has been approved by Revolution and we are now clear to start the script.”
So it looks like the UK will be stuck with the same version that the Americans saw 6 months earlier!
When is Shaun Of Dead DVD Being Released?
Does anybody know the release date for Shaun Of The Dead on Region 2 DVD?
I expect it to be around September or October as DVD are normally released about 5 or 6 months after its cinema release. I was wondering if any date had been announced and if there was any mention about what sort of features we can expect on the DVD.
I loved the film when I saw it in the cinema and it was the best british film I have seen in a long while!
