RE: Speed cameras - mobile, fixed etc

Assistant Chief Constable Paul Manning says speeding drivers pose an unacceptable risk of injury or death to pedestrians, especially children.

It is thought some 70% of motorists drive too fast in built-up areas, but to allow for a margin of error in speed detection equipment, police will only stop drivers doing more than 35mph.

More than half of the children hit by a car at 30mph will survive, but almost all of those hit at 40mph will die.

Mr Manning said that as new detection equipment is so accurate, enforcement should be tightened to protect so-called "soft" road users.

People are seven times more likely to die in a road traffic accident than be murdered, so speeding should be taken more seriously, he will say.

The Automobile Association has said it would support a strict enforcement of the law if road signs made it obvious that the limit was in force.

RE: Productivity Hit an All Time Low.......

Good find :D does anyone know if there is a way to download this ???

RE: Speed cameras - mobile, fixed etc

Hypothetically, your son/daughter is run over by someone doing 35 in a 30 zone. Had he been going at the correct speed, it would have meant that your child would have survived. However, they were not, so they did not

Quote:
To answer your question,no I wouldn`t have a go at a driver for doing 35mph as how many of us can honestly say we don`t drift above 30mph every now and then ?

says it all really :/ its ok to speed even if you lose a child :o
