GPS Speed Camera Detector under £80 at Woolies

It`s been around for a few weeks but I finally invested in one this week. Works a treat. Uses GPS technology to determine your car`s actual position in relation to a database of FIXED (not mobile or temporary) speed cameras. It even knows how fast you are going so will alert you if you are entering a `risk` zone too fast. Free database updates supplied for a year. As it`s GPS based it`s not illegal.

Just check your car doesnt have an `Athermic` windscreen. Mine (Vauxhall Zafira) does and I have to position the unit close to the quarter window for it to work. The website has a list of vehicles affected.

Link here.

I have heard these inforads are dodgy when it rains on most reviews on the net and have had mixed reviews about it picking up camera on other side of motorways etc.Im defo intrested in buying one of these i wonder what woolies return policy is like if it doesnt meet my expectations.£79.99 is a good price for a gps based unit which you can update via the net and your pc i might get one too. :B

Even with my dodgy windscreen I`ve only lost signal once for about a minute. But yes, it does pick up cameras on the opposite carriageway - small price to pay I think when my bosses Road Angel cost him three hundred quid and it does in essence the same thing.

I think you might be OK to return to woolies but I suggest you don`t register it online until you are happy with it.

Because some speed limits are inappropriate and dangerous. (too fast in some places, too slow in others).

Cause we sometimes make mistakes. This lets us correct them before too late.

It`s not the speed limits which are inappropriate and dangerous, it`s the drivers!

Maybe one or two fines would help to correct future mistakes!

So it is dangerous to drive at 31MPH, but not at 30MPH ?

Cameras do not catch dangerous drivers such as drunks and people on mobile phones.

It is not a fine, IT IS A TAX on the vast majority of sensible motorists that need to get from A to B.

It`s more dangerous to drive at 31MPH than 30MPH, just like its`s more dangerous to drive at 30MPH than 29MPH. But if the limit is set at 30MPH, then it`s 30MPH.

Why do most drivers feel the need to drive to the limit???

It`s a fine on motorist for driving faster than the stated limit!

I assume sensible motorists keep within the speed limits when going from A to B.

The cameras are not doing their job of preventing speeding.

More motorists are being caught by these cameras every year, which is why it is good insurance to buy a detector so lessen the chance of being caught just a few MPH over the speed limit.

If the cameras and fines were a deterrant than nobody would be being caught by them !

Obviously the speed limits are set too low.
