I had the same problem. They advertised it as codefree, but apparently they are supposed to give you the unlocking instructions when you buy it. I went back to ask and they gave me the sheet. Here are the original (German) instructions and my English translation.

Auf Deutsch:

[*] Gerät einschalten (Power On)
[*] Stellen Sie sicher, dass sich keine Disk im Gerät befindet (Anzeige: "NO DISC").
[*] Drücken Sie hintereinander viermal auf die Zifferntaste "9" der Fernbedienung.
[*] Im OSD Menü erscheint die Anzeige des aktuellen Regionalcodes.
[*] Drücken Sie nun eine der Tasten "1" - "6" entsprechend dem Regionalcode, welchen Sie wählen möchten. Um das Gerät codefree zu schalten, drücken Sie die Ziffer "9".
[*] Des Gerät ist nun wieder einsatzbereit.

In English:

[*] Ensure that there is not a disc in the device (Front display: "NO DISC").
[*] Press the "9" key on the remote four times in a row.
[*] The current regional code will appear in the OSD menu.
[*] Now press one of the "1" - "6" keys to choose the regional code you would like to select. To set the device to codefree, press the number "9".
[*] Device is now reprogrammed.

NOTE: I don`t remember really seeing the old regional code appear after I hit 9 four times, but I just kept on hitting 9 until it showed up on the TV and it worked fine.

I`ve been waiting for what seems an age for the DVD box set of the third season of "Kung Fu". It`s been out in the States for absolutely ages so does anyone know when it`s coming out in the UK or how to go about asking when it`s going to be released on R2?

It was in-store in my local store (Sutton, Surrey). No copies of Freedom Fighters left, but the empty "Stock currently unavailable" boxes were priced at £2.99. Soul Calibur 2 was available at £4.99. Good deal!

I`m now happy, got it to work :)

1. Turn on DVD player
2. Open disc tray using the OPEN button on the REMOTE
3. Press 2812
4. A menu will appear
5. keep pressing enter untill 9 appears
6. Now it`s ready ;)

Hi Cris,

Just tried your hack, but it doesn`t seem to wanna work.

The white blocks do appear, but only 3.

Open tray (on player)
Press 3 (1 block) 3 (2 blocks) 8 (3 blocks) 8 (back to 1 block) then press 0 for the region then close the tray (on the pleyer) but still says "Wrong region"

AAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Am I jusat doing something wrong ??

Just bought this player after seeing there was a hack avalible, but tried :

Open tray
press 2812

all that happens is a line in the left hand corner pops up & pressing 9 does nothing.


Anyone help ?

Paid for the hack, but can`t seem to get it to work, posting it to see if anyone else can get it to work.
