RE: Official Apple iPod Refurb units Video and Nano models available

I recently went to John Lewis at the Trafford Centre in Manchester and had a look at the clearance section in the electrical department they had a number of Ipod Nanos on offer. Some of them had slight scratches on and some had missing components, the one I bought had a missing USB lead and a slight scratch on the back (not visible with a new skin on), the sales assistant discounted it down to £55.

I was surprised he had the autonomy to discount to such low level. Having secured this deal I thought the guy was slightly barking and chanced my arm with a Sony PSP discounted to £70 because it had a missing 32Mb memory card ( I bought a 1GB replacement from a computer show for £ 25). There you are chance your arm and grab a bargain. Just remember to ask to see what components are missing and haggle a bigger discount.

RE: Free DVD recorder and money off with any LCD TV at Amazon.

Amazon only deducted £55 from my original order and tried to overcharge me £34 but they responded to emails very quickly and assured me that they will credit my account the overcharge and have given me the full £100 off.

They have now closed the door on this deal as stated in a previous post the amount off is now £50, they have also put up the prices on the cheaper LCD tv sets the Compacks has gone up by £14 in a day.

I think someone will be getting a serious arse kicking at Amazon :D it seemed a to good to be true offer.

But at least some of us have received the goods mine arrived this morning and the Compacks LCD TV is good for the measly price of £88 :D .

Has anyone else received goods without any problems??

RE: Refurbished MP3 players @ Currys

DO NOT BUY THESE FROM CURRYS.

I bought one 3 months ago and it went faulty they sent another and this was faulty to, there are better offers around argos sale or microdirect offers.

RE: Mico R311i

I have tried so many cheap cr appy DVD recorders and took them all back they are a complete waste of space save your money and dont bother.

RE: Free DVD recorder and money off with any LCD TV at Amazon.

This is a genuine offer I managed to order a compacks 15 LCD TV and a Lite-on -5115 ghc for £137.

However I have just received confirmation that the 2 products will be dispatched separately and they show the breakdowns of the promotional price as £55off and not the £100 as stated in the original confirmation order. Beware look at the original confirmation and the dispatch emails this would have equated to an overcharge of £35 for me.

I have sent them a snooty email threatening court action if they take the extra money from my account.

RE: Archos AV320 MP3/MP4 Video Recorder only £139.99 at SVP

Just to point out that this product is refurbished although it does carry a 6 month warranty.

BUG DAB RADIO £62 comet

I was in Comet today at Crewe and noticed that they have a 30% mark down on some DAB radios not sure how many models are reduced I noticed that the bug was marked down to £ 62. I have done a quick scan on the net and the cheapest price seems to be £90 so if you're after the bug comet is currently the cheapest place.

RE: Bargain Bucket Oscars

I also agree that Reestit mutton should receive an award for his continued enthusiasm and commitment to bargain hunting. I would like to suggest an award for the most insignificant post I recall several particularly items under a pound saving a grand total of 10p. Any other suggestions.!!

RE: Petrol Discount Card

I have registered because the idea sounds great and I wish them every success; however I recently received an email saying that they are some way off finalising the deal. .By the time this takes off I think we will have a petrol substitute like fuel cell powered cars or better battery technology or horse and cart. :D

RE: free CARDBOARD radio ..................?

:x Mine went all soggy in the bath and the radio did`nt last long either!! (:¦

RE: Motorola C975 £9.99 includes MP3 player

I can assure you that the post was not intended to be misleading in any way shape or form, the first line of the post clearly explains what the deal at Argos entails.

The information provided in some recent posts on this forum seems to provide an opportunity for some members to demean and criticise, fellow members efforts to provide what individuals feel are genuine bargains or lower prices than the recommended retail price from the high street pirates.

I don't want to appear bitter but it will obviously put off new members from posting when there are some members who portrait themselves with greater than thou attitudes in their responses, basically be fair to fellow members and don't slag off unless it is justified, moan over thank you.

RE: Reestit Mutton - new functionality

I personally would like to publicly thank Reestit Mutton for providing the invaluable service he does, I have purchased several phones for family members based on the information provided on the site and saved hundreds of pounds. The site is unique and provides a wealth of information however reading some posts it seems that some people are never satisfied with any information people provide for the benefit of fellow bargain hunters.

Keep up the fantastic work Reesit your efforts are appreciated by the majority.

RE: CHEAP SMARTPHONE £ 72

Hi HD,

I posted the original message and the reference I made regarding to potential use for SatNav is the software, reading between the lines so to speak what I mean is there are websites that would provide suitable downloadable software IE TomTom. You would need to purchase a receiver separately these can cost as little as £30-£40 these days, here is an example: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/8590.htm

The low end priced models will do exactly what is says on the can but if you want the latest sirf 111chip Set then you have to pay about £80, having used both sorts I think its worth paying that bit extra. Here is a link to a Sirf 111 chipset model http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=122496.

The GlobalSat BT338 SiRF Star III Bluetooth GPS was £140 last week the prices have dropped massively in the last month, hope this helps.

RE: Bush Internet Box £4.99

What a bargain :D with this kind of technology available at these low prices, to complement your new investment why not buy one of these state of the art computers:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Commodore-64-C-64-Computer-Used_W0QQitemZ8788142785QQcategoryZ74945QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

A real bargain or as Jim Royal says "my arse" :D

CHEAP SMARTPHONE £ 72

I came across this Sierra VOQ A10 Professional Edition Unlocked GSM Smart Phone (Sim Free) at Microdirect it seems ok for the price and I understand with additional software it could be a cheap satnav solution.

RE: Nice TV for the bedroom - Asda

How can a wideband tuner pick up analogue NTL via the tv ariel?? Never heard this before any explanation welcome.

RE: Help?? Pacific (?) STT2021

Hi Mr Tiger,

I would suggest taking it back to the store and asking them for a replacement they will advise you that you should have telephoned the number on the receipt to organise a replacement, however I carried a 28 inch TV back into our local Asda and they gave me a brand knew. The price had also dropped by £20 and they gave us the difference in price so we got a brand new TV and £20 back, you just act daft they wont send you packing if you have made the effort to carry it to the store. They are one of the best places to resolve issues like this without any quibbling, don't mention how it happened just say its developed a fault, I don't work for them but bulls*** baffles brains.

Mothers Day Cards

:)
Hi Everyone,

With mothers day now only one week away I have managed to spot a bargain in ASDA they have Smart price mothers day cards for only 6p, it says on the front "because you're worth it" what a joke. It should say because your not worth it and this is all I am prepared to spend on you is 6p.

Any thoughts!!!!

RE: Free CONDOMS

RE: Cello DVD recorder £49.99 in Co-op

They seem to have them in most co-op stores, I have had it for 3 days now so far so good. The only down side with it is linking it to Sky + in the copy programs from the hard drive but for £49 you cant complain. It uses +R or +RW but you can buy JVC+RW in poundland (yes they cost a pound before you ask!!!!!).
