RE: router problem (related)
Hi again Ste
Update the internet seems to be working fine, and I got 4 mb download speed, its very odd I nearly went to buy a new router, but over christmas web pages started to behave themselves, and videos hardly seem to buffer, so touch wood** I hope its going to stay the same!
I seem now to believe it was an ISP issue even tho they kept telling me the line was fine....fingers crossed
RE: updating firmware netgear router?

RE: router problem (related)
i opened this thread to try and generate new interest, yea i now think its eitjer the router having trouble trying to configure the ip address or my isp which tbh have been not much help, they say the line test is ok but i dont think that ip address` is nothing to do with the line being ok?
router problem (related)
Hi again guys
Ok this is related to my earlier post, I now find that when I reboot the router its fine for a short time then it goes back to being really slow, then there is no service (its connected to the internet but there is no DNS? What ever that is?)
Thanks guys
RE: router problems??
Hi
Ok what ive found that if I reboot the router then its great for about 15 minutes then the web pages start to get slow again, very odd.
I might try and do a factory reset on the router, is this easy?
Dave
RE: router problems??
Thanks guys
Well Talk Talk say its up to 6mb and I read that my ADSL filter may be faulty and causing the slow speed.
I will try a new filter, so its very unlikely to be the router then?
RE: router problems??
Is that fibre optic? Unfortunately we dont have that here, but I`m sure it should be faster than less than 2mb
Dave
RE: router problems??
I Dont even get 2Mb on a ping test!!
router problems??
Hi Guys
Ok our computers in the house on wifi for some reason have become really slow at streaming videos, and also loading web pages has become slow, even the desktop on ethernet is always buffering trying to watch a video.
I recently added a repeater onto the network, but when I switch it off or unplug it from the power internet is still slow from main router, would a repeater slow things down for the main router?
Any help appreciated, Dave
RE: repeater problems!
Woops its a wireless N repeater, the type u just plug into a socket, netgear router, dell inspiron laptop, but surely its just the repeater thats relevant?
Dave
