RE: Best avi converter to i-touch - ability to increase the sound for the i-touch essential
Hi Deano
I use a program called Freez Ipod Video Converter to convert films for I-Touch and PSP. You can increase the volume up to 200% of the oringal level, which works. You can also batch convert, which is useful, usually set a load going overnight.
Link: freez-ipod-video-converter.en.softonic.com/download
One thing to be aware of using this program, it only lasts for 60 days (I think), however, there is a really simple registry hack that resets the counter:
Run regedit
Goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSUpdate
Change Ipod Count value to be 0
I hope this helps you out.
RE: TEVION MD 30113 42" Stereo LCD-TV
Thank you both for your opinions, and particularly for the links. On this evidence and other research, I think I may let this one by.
Thanks again
TEVION MD 30113 42" Stereo LCD-TV
Good evening
I wonder if anyone can help a complete and utter moron with a tv question.
In the local Aldi, I have found the TEVION MD 30113 42" for £499.99. However, I have no idea if this is a good purchase or not. I would be using it for watching Freeview (maybe Sky in a few months), watching DVD`s and Wii.
Do you think that this TV is worth the money? Also, how long do you think it will be until it is out of date and unusable.
Sorry for all the questions, just that £500 is quite a big out lay and would like all the facts.

RE: DAB radio in car
I had a JVC KD-DB711 in my last car and the sound quality was awesome on my journey to work (Melton Mowbray to Bingham), with a much better selection of stations to choose, Planet Rock for starters!
However, try driving into Leicester and half way down the A46 it turned into Norman Collier! No interference at all when it looses a signal, just cuts in and out.
If you are going to use it in an area with good coverage, the sound quality is about 200 times better than analogue. If your in a bad coverage area, you will soon pull your hair out!
This model also plays MP3`s off a CD, but in hindsight I would have selected one that had a USB port instead.
RE: Dell Laptop Problem
Hey guys
Thanks a lot for your help. I shall try checking the vents as suggested, but if it turns out to be the motherboard, I think I may as well bin it, majority of the time a new motherboard costs more than the laptop is worth.
Thanks again!!
Dell Laptop Problem
Hey
I wonder if anyone can shed a little light on a problem I am having with a Dell Inspiron 1000?
I have this laptop just for browsing the internet, but it keeps turning itself off.
One moment I`ll be happily surfing, when the next the hard drive stops and the screen goes black, no Blue Screen Of Death, nothing. Now the strange thing is that the battery light remains on, hinting that it hasn`t actually lost power!?!!? But the only way top continue is to forcefully power off the laptop and reboot.
The issue happens intermittently, ranging from 2mins of use to 5 hours!
This is very annoying, does any one have any ideas? Any help/opinions will be gratefully received.
Cheers
Laptop Problem!! Battery??
Hey
I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D7830 laptop, which is used mainly as an internet browser.
Previously, it would not boot up if the mains lead was plugged in, so I had to boot from battery and then plug in the mains adapter. This occasionally resulted in a Blue Screen Of Death and then died. After time I found the exact moment to plug the mains in, so that it would boot as per normal. If I tired to boot with mains, it would make the fan spin, but nothing else would happen.
Yesterday though, I took out the mains and tried to boot from battery, but it was completely dead. Charged it for 3 hours, tried again, dead as a dodo. If I leave the mains in, it seems to power the fan, but nothing else! If I remove the battery same result, only the fan spins.
At first I assumed it was the battery, but if the same thing happens when the battery is not plugged in, it can`t be the battery, can it??
If anyone out there could provide any help, I would be very grateful!
Thanks in advance
RE: Laptop To TV
Thanks for the info, buddy.
Looks like the cables going back to the shop.
Laptop To TV
Hi
I wonder if anyone could help me. I think I`m being a little thick.
I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D7830 (don`t laugh), which has S-Video connection on the back. I have brought a S-Vid to Scart cable, plugged them into laptop and tv. And nothing happens!! I have tried all the Video/AV settings on the tv
The laptop is running with Radeon Mobility 9000. I have gone into the software to try and change the output. But nothing seems obvious!
I have opened Display Settings -> Settings -> Advanced -> ATI Outputs
I`m then given 3 options - Laptop Panel, TV panel and Monitor Panel..
I have tried to activate the TV panel. But it never comes alive. If I plug a monitor into the VGA connection in the laptop, the monitor panel jumps to life!
Is there something I am doing wrong? Or is the cable knackered? (i have no other means of testing)
Thanks in advance
RE: Chinese Motorbikes
Thanks very much gents. I think I shall concentrate on finding a nice little 2nd hander.
Unfortunately there not as readily available as a 2nd car!
Thanks again all.
Chinese Motorbikes
Good evening all,
I wonder if anyone could provide an opinion on the Chinese built motorbikes that are now available, for example Skyjet and Superbyke.
Has anyone rode one? Are they any good?
The reason I ask is that I`m planning to do my CBT so that I can ride a 125cc bike to work, as opposed to queuing in traffic. A "normal" make bike is around £1500, while one of these Chinese bikes are £800 brand new.
Thanks in advance for any help\advice\opinions.

Hi
Does anyone know anything about the above piece of software? Is it safe?
Cheers for any info

RE: Activate windows in 30days
Hi MilesR
Which piece of software are you using to backup your system?
Think I need to start doing this!
Cheers

RE: Newsgroup
Thanks for the info, but out of 12 appartments in our block, main is the only one that hasn`t been connected to NTL. When the building was built, they forget to put the link from the manhole to my socket - the lovely people!!!
RE: Newsgroup
Oh right :( Thats a bit of a shame.
Thanks for the swift reply 1mills
Newsgroup
Hi all
I wonder if any can help.
I have been told by a collegue that there are free newsgroups that you can sign onto to download files from, with really fast speeds. I have seen some pay for acess groups, but have been informed that some ISP`s provide free ones. I am currently with Tiscali. Can anyone shed some light on this please?
Thanks in advance.
RE: laptop battery in or out when using mains?
Hi guys
I wonder if this is similar to a problem that I`m having.
Everytime I try to power up my laptop with the mains attached, the fan starts to spin, but nothing loads. If I start it without the mains attached it starts to boot up fine, however, as soon as I put the mains in the laptop flashes a blue screen and turns off. It can take me upto 8 attempts to get it working.
If I remove the battery pack from inside, do you think the laptop will work better??
Cheers for any light you can shed!!
RE: Is the pass plus driving certificate worth doing?
Hey mate
When i passed my driving test (a good few years ago), i was quoted over £1000 insurance for a F-reg Fiesta 1.0l. The cost of doing PassPlus was £100. Once i finished the course (a bit of motorway driving, night driving) the insurance quote cam down to just over £700, so i made my money back by doing it. The insurance company i used was Budget (i think)
So in my opinion it was definately worth doing,
Hope this helps a little
