Page 1 of Chinese Motorbikes
General Forum
Good evening all,
I wonder if anyone could provide an opinion on the Chinese built motorbikes that are now available, for example Skyjet and Superbyke.
Has anyone rode one? Are they any good?
The reason I ask is that I`m planning to do my CBT so that I can ride a 125cc bike to work, as opposed to queuing in traffic. A "normal" make bike is around £1500, while one of these Chinese bikes are £800 brand new.
Thanks in advance for any help\advice\opinions.
I don`t know. But you`ll probably find that once you buy one you`ll probably crave another one a short time later...

Mate at work bought one brand new £900.00. Done his CBT on it and now commuting on it - has his test in a couple of weeks and is planning to flog it then.
Looking at it it`s hard to tell the difference than from a Honda 125 - so just to do your test and get you started they should be OK - especially as you`ll get 12 months warranty anyway and by then you should have passed your test.

LOL.

Ok here we go
1 FINISH is really poor and no matter how much you clean and polish any chrome etc will bubble/lift and things do fall off/break easier than jap bikes
2 RELIABILITY not to bad but tend to have more "friday afternoon" bikes than the japs
3 SPARES usually good as most based on exsisting honda designs and some can be interchanged
4 RESALE hhmm pretty poor but if you did not give much dont expect much back
Why noy buy a good 2nd hand jap bike (i have just sold a 2001 gz125 suzuki for £675 on ebay which was in very good condition)
Now don`t all those comments from Ryno seem similar to the comments made about Japanese bikes when they first started to appear and then put an end to the Brit bike industry.
Snaps
Some days it`s just not worth gnawing through the leather straps.
Problem was brit bikes were terrible anyway and most of those rumours were started by a ailing bike industry and a limited media that needed said bike industries advertising
i have owned 2 chinese bikes and believe me at the mo they are poor relations to the japs nothing would make me happier than them to come good and bring prices down but as most hyosong comet owners will tell you it aint no SV ;)
I remember when Honda cars were regarded as the rustiest cars you could buy, now look at them.

Thanks very much gents. I think I shall concentrate on finding a nice little 2nd hander.
Unfortunately there not as readily available as a 2nd car!
Thanks again all.
You simply cannot compare Chinese bikes with the way Honda started their world domination.
Quite simply, Honda took over the bike world by making quality, reliable products.
Where your brit piece of crap would require new points every ten miles, or p*** oil all over your boots, the Honda was oil tight and reliable.
Chinese bikes are, as Rynodod has said, utter s***e.
Very poor quality components and poor build quality.
There`s little doubt the Chinese will improve their products with time, as the Koreans are with their cars, but it will take a while.
The likes of Kia are only just beginning to make products that can compete with European cars, but it`s taken them a looooong time.
It`ll take even longer to get their brand `accepted`.
