RE: What movie am I looking forward to in 2004?
Check this...
The Day After Tomorrow Teaser...
So... now that Arnie`s elected as Governor...
.... does that mean that the line "we`ll meet again" he said to John Connor in T3 wont be fulfilled?? :(
RE: Spooky Britain?
*Deep Breath* here goes....
Don`t laugh. Ok, I must`ve been 14/15, and i used to always stay up late with my dad watching films at the weekend. There was one night (morning whatever) that I stayed up till around 5am and it was just getting light. My bed used to be against the wall at the window and as I lay down on my bed, I could see a very broad, thick line of dirty, grey-coloured what I can only describe as some sort of jet-stream (like what skyscraper planes leave behind) out of the corner of my eye in the sky. I looked out and there is a set of four high-rise flats near my house - this stream was in a perfect straight line BETWEEN the flats, past my house and stretched for at least ten miles across to a set of hills (called Campsie Hills nr Glasgow)
I went into my dad`s room to try and wake him up but he was sound asleep by this point, and when i went back into my room, i looked a bit harder to see if i could see where it began or ended, but couldnt.
People laugh at me to this day when I tell them about this, but it was definately there, definately a perfect straight line and definately went through between the flats. It`d faded by the time I woke the next day.
Oi! It`s not funny! >:(
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
I know the film`s supposed to be utter mince `n all that, but wasnt it supposed to be released tomorrow (aug 15th)??? Now it seems to be October 17th.
Am I the only one who thought this or is my brain completely frazzled??
Sorted
OK, I know its not the greatest film in the world but it holds some special meaning to me...
Bought "Sorted" from play last week as I`d been wanting to watch this film for ages, and was even more pleased to see it had a list of extras including deleted scenes, commentary, docu etc - only, when it arrived, the only "Extra Feature" to be found was chapter menus. Of course, play have now changed its list of extras in accordance with what is really on the disc but Pricestorm still have the "supposed" list of features on their site...
Someone help me! Am I just missing something here? Are there two versions? Was there one that had been deleted and replaced by a bare-bones disc? If so is there anywhere I`m likely to be able to find the disc with the features on it?
Sanyo DVD SL25
Is there a hack available for such player?!?!?!?!?

RE: Terminator III (spoilers`ll probably turn up eventually)
I really enjoyed it.
Terminator 2 has to be my favourite film, and was really happy with the way things were left off at the end of that film - so when I learned of Terminator 3 being made, it annoyed me because I couldnt think of any logical explanation for it at all (to me, it seemed as though absolutely everything was left tidied up nicely with no need for a sequel at the end of T2 - all that hard work for nothing etc). Annoyance became greater when there was news of no James Cameron, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong and that the baddie was to be a female.
But all plot holes etc aside (and to me, reasoning for a 3rd film seems plausable enough compared to many sequels apart from the purpose of making more money) I found the film entertaining and engrossing enough and surprisingly, satisfying.
Some things confuzzled me at first but after a while thinking about them, became a bit more clearer. For instance, I thought the T-1000 was a far superior killing machine than the T-X - but then he had only been sent back to kill John Connor, whereas the T-X seems to have a hitlist of over 20 people and then (I think?) begin the rise of the machines with her fancy blue finger - something I doubt the T-1000 could do if it were sent back.
Im wondering if a T3 would ever have been possible if James Cameron used the alternative ending of Sarah Connor in old age make-up etc...
At the end of T2, I was happy at that being it - finished - not interested in a 3rd film. However, at the end of T3, I would like there to be a T4 to try and expand on some of the new ideas and visions created in T3... and also, most of all, of Connor etc sending a T101 back in time, of John meeting Reece Kyle (in T2, when John says "I wish I met my real father" and Arnie replies "you will") etc...
*** POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW***
One thing I didnt like (which was unavoidable I suppose) is that Arnie is just not the same as he was in T2 - to me anyway. Sure, he was reprogrammed by John in T2 to be able to learn about human life and how we really exist etc, and this gave him at least some sort of characterisation - I felt sad to see him go at the end of T2 - however, at the end of T3, his demise has nowhere near the same amount of emotional impact. I cant put my finger on it, maybe someone with more brains than me will put it more clearer if you get my meaning. As I said though, i doubt it`d be easy (or plausable) for him to be the same character. Ok... I`m confusing myself now....
Forgive me for waffling... Ive been on nightshift for ages and forever and I`m still trying to come round to my normal sense of thinking!

RE: What is crying out for a release ?
A creepy little film from the 70s called "Don`t Be Afraid of the Dark" or something like that, which only exists in my memory as being the only film to still give me shivers when I think about it.
Wish that`d end up on DVD so I can see it from beginning to end without hiding!

RE: The worst advert you`ve ever seen?
lol straightjacket.... "3 for £99" with the stupid daft wee mice pulling at the blinds singing like they`re on helium? Its just as annoying on the radio. And another one we get up here on radio in Scotland is for Tunnocks tea cakes and caramel logs, where the guy is in the cinema or theatre and as he goes to eat his tea cake, the "gallumpies" snatch it from him!
Ericcson R600 on VirginMobile...
I saw this phone in Tesco the other night for £90 and was wondering... I`m going to change my mobile soon (I`m on o2 but I want to buy a Pre-Pay to shove my sim card into coz i rely on those 300 free txts) and this is the phone that caught my eye - however, I`m aware that o2 sims don`t work in Virgin phones. Can they be zapped or unlocked or something in order to accept my o2 sim?? Anyone a hell of a lot more technically-minded (and considerably smarter) than me in order to answer this silly little question??
Much appreciated!

RE: Best and Worst adverts at the mo
Hate the ads for Budweiser, whether it be talking frogs or saddos screaming "Whassup" at each other. Thank f```k they`re finished but no doubt theyll be resurrected.
The best ads are on the radio up here in Glasgow for a laminate flooring company. They feature Julian Clarey talking about flooring and it`s so twisted with innuendo, it`s amazing that they get away with it - they change every week or so, but examples are "The other day, a man got on the bus and he had the biggest hardest package I`d ever seen. I got so excited, I had to ask him where he got it from, and he told me he got it cheap at Direct Flooring" or "I cant contain my excitment when things go from small to really big" talking about the company`s expansion with a new store, "when i get home at night i like to come home to something big and hard waiting for me" (in reference to his laminate floor)
They have me in hysterics.

RE: Who else is glad the English have lost?
I`m glad. Me and my other half travelled down to London from here in Glasgow on Friday (it had been planned LONNNNNG before so it wasnt as if we went for a laugh) and both wore Brazil tops (which we bought on the day so it was for a laugh) and travelling down on the train was erm... funny. The further south we got, the more strange looks we got - it wasnt until Doncaster that we started to get the angry looks from others on the other platform, mostly from the one lone English-top--wearing-guy who noticed what we were wearing and pointed and shouted abuse. Ha!
Londoners were just so cool about it tho - on the tube from Kings Cross to Waterloo, there were 3 cool guys who whispered "Go Brazil!" to us - why whisper, man!! lol.
However, not only will we still hear "1966" non-stop over and over again (whats the point?!) we`ll also now hear "we were SO close in 2002" etc and numerous re-releases of tired tosh from Baddiel & Skinner and mince from Ant & Dec (no doubt a "Euro 2004" remix will surface) - YAWN!

Original Spiderman trailer on DVD?
Sorry if I sound morbid or insensitive or whatever, but dunno if anyone remembers the original trailer for Spiderman that was out before September 11, which featured a helicopter being entangled in a huge web spun between the WTC?! Is this trailer scrapped completely or do you know/reckon it will be on the DVD when its released?! I thought it was a really cool trailer.
Cheers

RE: Dog Soldiers...
I remember seeing the trailer for this film when I saw RoadKill... it was set out like those Army ads and was quite funny when it became clear it was actually for a film.
Saw the film last week - thought it was really good and gory.

RE: I hate Big brother
I`ll tell you what I hate about Big Brother... (and feel free to slate me too)
Being the big 22 y/o Scottish poof that I am, a certain Big Brother contestant and subsquent winner REALLY grated on my nerves... As much as I tried to avoid watching BB to escape his/it`s screeching hisses and constant moans, it seemed that the newspapers, gay chatrooms and as is now obvious... children`s programme producers loved him.
What a person to represent gay men (yes Im aware that that is not the reason he was picked for). No wonder I try to keep it from people (apart from you lovely lot) - I`d hate to be branded with the same "stamp" as HIM. And for the record, I never found him attractive (as most gay men seem to) and I`ve never been jealous of him in any way! I dreaded the "are you all like that?" questions from relatives and straight friends.
I watched BB at times in the hope that he`d be booted out, and never before have I felt as much sympathy as I did for the mad blonde Welsh bird.
Personally, I agree that BB is nothing more than money-making nonsense which attracts those who don`t understand why they`re not actors or singers or TV Presenters.
Sorry to moan... but i felt this a nice little opportunity to vent some air on a little annoying man who I dare not speak of by name.
Oh and for the record, I found Josh more attractive - and real! :o)

RE: Odeon show Star Wars AOTC reels in wrong order!
Lol...
I was there with my partner at the Glasgow showing that cocked up. Didn`t think it`d make it this far!!! It skipped from the scene from where Padme tells Anakin that she`s going with him to Tatooine to the scene where Anakin and Padme are led out into the pit thing with the three monsters - at first I thought it was a dream sequence (try and imagine sitting there figuring out how the hell Obi Wan ended up tied up) - but it became clear that it had skipped after people started shouting and walking out!!!
When in the foyer, the staff had mysteriously disappeared and we were told by tannoy 10 minutes later that we were to get refunded or another showing (which couldnt be guaranteed for the next day) - people were RAGING and demanded it to be re-run, which of course the Odeon wasn`t having at all.
Least we got our pics in The Sun - dunno whether to be flattered or humiliated by that though lol.
My partner and I (look I`ll cut the crap, I`m gay ok!) went and got a refund the next day (yesterday) and were not only given a refund but also a pair of complementary tickets too - this made up for a similar blunder in Panic Room I suppose. Then went to a Showcase in East of Glasgow where we saw the whole film in a half-full cinema hall. (Horribly uncomfortable seats tho!!!)

RE: What do you all do for a living ?
Ready for this?! I work as a Lab Technician which tests construction materials like soils, tar, rock, concrete etc. Perform various tests in lab and on-site to make sure that the very roads you drive on or buildings you work in are safe do to so! Bored? How do you think I feel!!!
RE: A Creepy little film from the 70s/80s...
I`m so glad that I didnt imagine this film!!!! I wish it`d get released, it was so scary and you dont get films like that these days. TT
A Creepy little film from the 70s/80s...
With all those threads on identifying films, I recently got a film identified which scared the hell out of me.
Remember "The Haunted", which was called "Dont Be Afraid of the Dark" in the USA? Bout a couple who inherited a big house from the wife`s parents which had three little demons locked up in a fireplace... when the wifey decides to decorate the house, she is adament that the fireplace is unboarded but the housekeeper warns her not to... of course, she DOES and lets loose the little demons who come after her to make her one of them seeing as she released them... only she can see them and her husband and friends think she`s going mad...
It was scary (I thought) - it was a made-for-TV movie (so it`ll probably never be released on DVD) and it was shown as part of a season of late AFTERNOON films in the US...
I`d love to hear if anyone else has seen it, coz it bugged me for years trying to find out what it was till someone told me a few months ago.

RE: Phantom Menace - Just out of curiosity, does anyone FAVOUR this film to the others?
Agreed, monged.... and I think too much tinkering leads to hate and hate leads to suffering!
On TPM, I like Jake Lloyd - well, when you see the other two hopefuls in the casting section in the documentary you realise big G *probably* picked the right guy for the job. I think TPM is growing on me, I didnt see it in cinema and saw bits of it briefly when it was on VHS but it didnt appeal to me, however when I got it on DVD for my birthday last week it`s been growing on me ever since and it`s got some sort of charm (?)
Jar Jar Binks is a pain in the ass, though.... :)

RE: Jurassic Park Boxset!
Cant remember where I saw it but I noticed somewhere that in the US, they`ve changed the covers on the first two - they look similar to the originals used when the films were on VHS and have the usual Universal "Widescreen" banner at the top - in YELLOW.
Phantom Menace - Just out of curiosity, does anyone FAVOUR this film to the others?
I know, daft question, but ever since I got The Phantom Menace on dvd I`ve wondered if anyone prefers this over the other 3?
My favourite is The Empire Strikes Back, but I`m just curious (or nosey) to know how many people prefer Phantom!

RE: Please help...JMB DVD3000
Jonny.... I`ve got the same player and sat up all night when I first got it to try and transform it into a Region 1 player... as frustrated as I was trying and trying the hack with the remote control, only later did I realise that you have to use the buttons on the MACHINE and not on the remote!
I dunno if you`ve tried that already... it`s awkward but once you do it you shouldnt have to do it again.

Ultimate Editions
The Mummy, Meet Joe Black, Notting Hill and American Pie. Howcome all these films are being re-released on DVD under the title "Ultimate Edition" from Universal?! Two of the above are obviously to co-incide with the release of sequels in the cinema, but are they actually worth it???
Is it a trend that Universal will start over here?? And isnt it a case of "oh, we forgot to add that trailer, we should re-release the whole disc again!" ???
Don`t get me wrong, I`m not complaining, and it`s always good to see what Universal can add to a disc that was different from the last release.
I think it will happen with Jurassic Park and The Lost World when Jurassic Park 3 is released on DVD. And on that note, there`s lots of video footage and making-of thingies on JP3`s website that are so obviously destined to be JP3`s extras!!
A Jurassic Park Ultimate Edition would be good if Spielberg would do a bloody commentary!!!

RE: Cardboard `snapper` cases - a thought for lunchtime
Warner Bros, who use those snapper things for all their releases, are contracturally obliged to use those cases FOREVER! Apparently a subsidiary/sister company of Warners manufactures them.
I read this somewhere on http://www.dvdreview.com

RE: THE GRINCH...WHAT THE HELL?
Available from play247 on R1 in November.
R2 "Jaws" Photo Gallery
I recently bought this title, only to find that trying to access the Photo Gallery section does not work. I have a JMB DVD3000, has anyone else had this problem???
A blue screen comes up, and pressing SELECT makes a horrible scrambled messy white box (where text should be) appear in the top right hand corner.
Cheers

RCE
Isn`t RCE like a really horrible enemy from a film?
"The Matrix 4: RCEnhanced"
"Terminator 4: RCE Day"
"Star Trek XI: Holodeck RCE"
"Total RCEcall"
etc...
I hate it. I wish it would go away and stop infecting films like some sort of virus!

RE: T2:UE on the JMB DVD3000
FINALLY GOT IT!
See I was wondering bout what u said with pressing "Enter" as there isnt an "Enter" button on the remote, and I was scared of pressing "Select" cos then I thought the special edition would start because I had it highlighted...
And after all that, it was just the Special Edition with the deleted scenes from Disc 2 branched into the film! ARGH!
