A Creepy little film from the 70s/80s...

With all those threads on identifying films, I recently got a film identified which scared the hell out of me.

Remember "The Haunted", which was called "Dont Be Afraid of the Dark" in the USA? Bout a couple who inherited a big house from the wife`s parents which had three little demons locked up in a fireplace... when the wifey decides to decorate the house, she is adament that the fireplace is unboarded but the housekeeper warns her not to... of course, she DOES and lets loose the little demons who come after her to make her one of them seeing as she released them... only she can see them and her husband and friends think she`s going mad...

It was scary (I thought) - it was a made-for-TV movie (so it`ll probably never be released on DVD) and it was shown as part of a season of late AFTERNOON films in the US...

I`d love to hear if anyone else has seen it, coz it bugged me for years trying to find out what it was till someone told me a few months ago.

TT

Is it the one that Kim Darby (she was also in True Grit) she played the wife in the film, they kept whispering and She would catch sight of them at dinner parties and around the house.....They draged Her of in the end.
And you see a new couple turn up and hear the whispering again! They were like little imps, and the fire place was in the cellar where she ended up!

SCENE: Dinner table, everyone else is busy tucking into their scran, whereas the main character keeps seeing these eeire figures about the room... is this the same one? If so, this little gem still gives me the heebee geegees at times.
Any one remember the film, or was it part of the tales of the unexpected, or something simmilar: Some chap comes back from the middle of the jungle with a voodoo doll artefact. Only problem being, the little bugger comes to life and starts chopping people to bits. NYANANANANANANA the thing would scream as it terrorised it`s victims. I seem to recall one of the methods they tried to kill it was to stick in the oven on gas mark 6!!

Surely this film is the inspiration behind the recent adverts with the gremlins taunting people that can`t read(?)
