I could imagine a flash card getting through customs quite easily (if it`s incorrectly marked!)

They are fairly innocuously sized so should get through ok.

I thought they had to have some form of label on the outside stating value, as a gift needs to be less than £35, from a retailer £18 (on paper). ;)

If you don`t want to chance customs you could get 1Gb capacity from ebuyer for £89.56. Their Ebuyer 256MB SD card costs £22.39 with free shipping. So if you don`t mind (or would prefer) multiple cards you could get the same capacity from a UK source. It looks like the Ebuyer card is either manufactured by Viking Interworks or Kingmax.

Other cards all with free shipping include:

Viking 256MB Secure Digital Card Retail £25.84 inc VAT (free shipping)
Quickfind code: 44204

Kingston 256MB Secure Digital (SD) Card £24.75 inc VAT (free shipping)
Quickfind code: 46549

Ebuyer 256MB Secure Digital Card Retail £22.39 inc VAT (free shipping)
Quickfind code: 56152

On a slight tangent. You can get a 4Gb microdrive for £175 in the UK. The creative Muvo 4GB version uses them. The microdrives normally go for around £450-£500 alone. One of the people I am working with uses it i his Sony digicam.
