The 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California, less than 100 were made. My father spent 3 years restoring this car.....it is his love.....it is his passion....."it is his fault he didn`t lock the garage!"
RE: Dual Layer DVD Rewriter
Nooooo...look at the P&P, an additional £14...making it around £73
Check out eBuyer
www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=1905997585&action=c2hvd3N1YmNhdGVnb3J5X3BhZ2U=&subcat_uid=183 and get an OEM drive (16x Dual-layer dual format) for around £55 (excl P&P)
Admittedly you wouldn`t get Nero etc. (add that for £3.46) or the free DVDs (that cost all of £1 for both) - but you`d be getting a burner double the speed of that one, and from a reputable/proven source

Cheers Miles, I`ll check that out.

RE: Dual Layer DVD Rewriter
Not a bad price at all, especially since you can apparently flash the 2510A to be a Dual-layer writer.
Although, personally for another £10 or so I`d rather get a 16x one (a bit more future proofing considering 16x is the max speed DVD`s can be written to) - and because I`m just too impatient ;)

RE: Dual Layer DVD Rewriter
The 2510A is dual layer anyway. The 2500A can be flashed to make it a 2510A. (edit)
check here for latest on hacked firmware for NEC`s. I know there`s been some work done on the 3500A firmware for increasing burn speeds and quality with some media.

Don`t you mean 2510A rather than 3500A?
To the best of my knowledge, the 8x NEC writers (2xxx series) can`t be flashed with 16x (3xxx series) firmware, although I`d love to be proved wrong. :)

from my (admitedly very limited) research into dual layer dvd writers it seems like a lot of these early ones are a bit limited in places (or need firmware upgrades to get their full potential). The best bet at the moment seems to be the Pioneer DVR-108, but it is a little more expensive.
I`m hanging on until i see it a bit cheaper, or some other drives hit the market.

(I`m sure I`ve seen a post on this forum about it as well - just can`t find it right now)

Seeing as DL writers cost less than my Pioneer 107 a year ago & the fact DL media isnt that cheap. I am waiting for the price to drop on the latter before buying (hopefully) better spec & cheaper former. :)
