There is a new maplins store opening in Barnsley at the beginning of July, and they will be having a 1 day ONLY promotion, most items will be at cost price for E.G 7" TFT LCD screens @ APPROX £70 instead of £149.99 there will be other items including home cinema systems at cost price, there will be dvd recorders, all yet again at cost price, I cannot divulge where I got this info from but IT IS AUTHENTIC and it will ONLY be 1 DAY only, get there early as the store is expected to be very, very busy. To reiterate this promotion will only be availiable to the Barnsley store and NO other maplin store, nor will this promotion be availiable to web orders or visitors to the maplin web site. Further details as to store opening times and the day will be set as the day of opening draws nearer.

After VAT has been deducted from from the "Cost" price, a quick bit of maths tells me that if £70 was the trade price inc VAT and £149.95 is the selling price then they are working with a margin of 53% on that product (I have had a couple of beers so don`t quote me) 53% on LCD = bulls***e inflated retail price. No one works on those margins with LCD and the like.

Being a Maplins store, if correct this info is actually a goldmine and will in now way benefit the poster (unless he actually owns Maplins, and selling loads off at cost price doesnt actually make a profit anyway).

This could be a Gift Horse, perhaps leave the dental treatment a while?

This is absolutley genuine and the only reason I dont use my proper name is if any of the managers were to see this post and find out who I am im not sure how they would take it.

The reason im posting this is, I work for the company, and this is what we have been told the prices on this particular day will be, im neither the manager nor any kinda marketing bod, and personally I dont care if maplins makes millions or makes nothing at all i dont benefit either way only the fact i work for em.... I just thought that if the prices are going to be this good.. and I have no reason to disbelieve they wont be... then I just thought it would be worth sharing the inside info I have with people on here... after all this is what these forums are for BARGAINS.

As I said this is a 1 day only promotion and afterwards the prices will be reverted back to normal, and if you can find these items cheaper elsewhere then by all means go and find em.

Mythandmagick is a website and I`m developing this for my wife and although its not the best... she likes it and this is my very first attempt at a website but it is in no way linked with maplins ( god forbid they should go into this type of area :) .

We have been told there will be other bargains at the store from cinema surround systems from £30 or so.

To be honest I dont post much on the net, althought I have used it for many years, so when I do post I have no intention of lying to anyone about anything I say. Anyway guys it`s up to you if you want the bargains then make sure your early as we expect people to be queueing from 6.30am onwards, store will officially be opened by a local celeb with all the pizzaz you expect from a large company on July 9th at 9am, I will post more info if this changes as we still have over 20days to go, and as some of you will know no new store opening goes smoothly.

lf, all the above stacking & being true mate, I apologise for my cynicism(sp?). Just recently there have been a number of 1 post newbies selling pyramid schemes & referral schemes etc.
Again, the above being genuine, welcome aboard & cheers for sharing the information.
