Is The ASDA Cyberhome DVR 1600 DVD-R Recordable ?

Lordwoody (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 16th November 2005, 17:39

Hi
I am very confused !!!!

Will the Cyberhome Record onto DVD-R ?
Although its says in the manual the Recordable format is DVD+R only,
a few forums are saying that it records onto DVD-R .
is this true ?

Please set the record straight before I buy one.
Thanks

Woody

Yes. Although it doesn`t say anything about this is in the manual it will happily use both DVD+ and DVD- format discs. When you put them in a little dialog box comes up asking if you want the disc formatted. Click OK it does the business in a few seconds and away you go.

It will also use -RW (rewriteable discs) but I haven`t explored whether it will allow full access to the editing possibilities with this format.

So if I Record onto DVD-R with this machine, will I be able to play that DVD-R in any other DVD player that plays DVD-Rs?

Sorry if I seem a little dum its just that I am new to this technology.

In theory, yes. Although on occasion you will find that other DVD players are picky about the type of discs you are using. DVD-R is most reliable type of disc, so a good quality DVD-R should cause no problems.
