Page 1 of Cheap All-in-One Network Capable Printer

Heading says it all! I wanted a cheap printer that the whole house could use instead of one on each of my many PC`s.

Came across the HP Photosmart PSC2575 at PC World for £64.99. I checked out Froogle and ebay and this did indeed seem like a bargain worthy of the bucket! It`s by far the cheapest network capable printer i`ve found.

Cheap inks dont seem to be a problem either, any suggestions on the best place to buy them?

I bought one a few weeks ago. It`s excellent. An absolute bargain. I guess they must be phasing them out for a newer version.

Quick question really.

I have always fancied some of the HP printers, but always put off by the cartridge prices. Do you guys refill, or buy third party, or?

I`ve always had HP, and always used third party compatible inks without any problems.

Been using this printer for a couple of days now and very impressed with the results, pleased with my £65 bargain. :D

Any feedback on the best prices for ink?

Anyone else like this printer and does anyone know what the costs are for ink cartridges and the printer lead ? (Can i use any cheap bog standard lead?)

Not sure on ink cartridge costs (haven`t changed any yet). Inevitably the legit ones is expensive (though supposedly are non-fade, colourfast, etc.) I`m sure generics are readily available. Haven`t researched properly yet. Printer lead - use a cheapy. I had one lying around.

This printer is advertised as a wired network printer. Is it possible to use it as a wireless network printer?

Yep, easiest way, just plug it into your wireless router, I have network printer not the hp one. Though you do have it located next to your router. Though I did have problems intiallty had to manually assign ip addresses as the brother`s software didnt work properly. Hp should be better. See no reason why the hp wouldnt work either. I have laptop, wireless router and printer in my setup, print from anywhere in the house, even the garden, you could also use those network plugs that use mains for a network. Or printer servers, though if you have a wireless router already, just plug into a spare ethernet port.

Plugged it directly into ethernet port of wireless router, installed HP software (not quick - the software is HUGE). Works more or less faultlessly with 2 laptops as long as you`re in range of the router`s magic beams.

Just to re-state the fairly bleedin` obvious - you will need a wireless router to plug it into. It won`t work remotely on it`s own without one.
