Hi BigAde,
Just received my Notting Hill from CD-Wow... But was surprised it
a) came from hong kong b) had Thai on the front cover and subtitled in Thai too.....

Was yours the same? I was expecting a UK version. Is the Thai any different.

Also ordered Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and My Fair Lady for around the same price... Yep they came from Hong Kong too....
I`m just concerned these may not be as good as the UK versions hence the price..

What do you or anyone else think I should do... Ta...?

Had a look at this, and there`s a couple of mentions of the word `Thai` on the CD Wow page itself. This, together with the fact that it says it`s Region 0 and NTSC (we`re PAL over here) suggests they may be getting in a shedload of imported stuff and flogging it off cheap (especially as the others you ordered looked the same). Even if it means a couple of quid more I`d shop around if I were you and have a look at sites such as http://www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=index and http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk/comparisons/comparisons.php which should help you decide what version you`d like.

No idea, my DVD has arrived apparently, but seeing as I`m in on business in Frankfurt right now, won`t get to see it until the weekend. Will be most annoyed if there are unremovable subtitles on it!!!
Let you know what I find...!

thanks for getting back. I usually source my DVDs from DVD Checker but thought CD-WoW was a good offer- I wasn`t expecting a dvd covered with thai stickers and thai subtitles though!. Will wait to see what BigAde has to say too.

Mind you....CCBB was very good - the kids loved it - would recommend it for kids at 7.99 and can see it being used a lot by my 4 and 2 year olds.

Subtitles are removeable, but its definitely inferior quality. Im very surprised at CD Wow. It does actually say region 2 on the cover!??

It does sound funny that Cd-wow would get their stuff from anywhere!! lol sounds like old Del Boy is behind this! :-D

Was CCBB in widescreen by any chance? The R2 version is only in widescreen for the main titles and then goes to full frame.

CCBB was widescreen only in titles - then goes full frame - mind you I still think full frame was very good too. But would still recommend it.. You can also select karekoe subtitle which I certainly enjoyed singing along to... takes me back a few years mind!

Hope this helps.

I`m still waiting to see if I can return Notting hill to cd-wow will be interesting to see what they say.

Yep you`re right it does say region 2 on the cover... but it is still plastered with stick lables in Thai the code on cover is
advd-45001 or bar code 8 850268450015

I also checked on dvd comparisons but I can`t seem to find this version or comments on it..

Cheers niteowl! I got the r2 version which doesn`t have the fun karaoke subtitle unfortunately, but I guess normal subtitles do the job too!! Still can`t get the title song out of my head! :)
