Bottom and The Young Ones

sparkster (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 1st August 2002, 22:09

Just to remind all fans of the shows, Bottom and The Young Ones will both be released on DVD next Monday (5th Aug).

The Young Ones is the complete series 1. Unfortunetely Bottom is only a `Best Of` DVD containing 5 episodes. I would prefer Series 1 to be released and the next two series to be released in the future.

Anyway, two of the best shows ever made have been put on DVD and that can only be a good thing.

Disappointed

I`m still disappointed that they`re only doing a "best of" for Bottom. If they`d released the full series 1 I`d have grabbed it like a shot - as it stands, I`ll probably just hang onto my VHS copies until they release it properly. (Which could take years.)

I`m waiting for the region 1 verson - both series and episodes of bottom & filthy rich and catflap. Again we`re short changed, but on a classic british BBC release????

andyrh68, have you heard of such a release for Bottom? Please post links if you have them.

I feel disappointed with the lack of extras on both The Young Ones & Bottom. Commentary from Mayall, Ade and the gang would have been great. The Fawlty Towers DVDs were excellent and did the series justice, the same can be said for both League of Gentlemen DVDs.

Lets hope the picture quality on both DVDs, especially the Young Ones has been enhanced for DVD and isn't crappy early 80s VHS (or even Beta) quality.

BTW - Play247 now have The Young Ones in stock. Mines was put in the post this afternoon.

No joy Sparkster.
I thought I might have been greeted with my copy of the Young Ones when I got in from work tonight (yes I know I said I was waiting for the region 1 release - but 1 series is better than nothing).....And what about the Comic Strip presents: Bad News - A fist Full - Mr. Jolly to name a few.

I haven`t got mine either :-(
Play are still awaiting stock for Bottom as well (which was due out yesterday).

I`ll be buying the region 1 version of Young Ones myslef in Sept. The R2 should copy should do for now. Neither Play or Movietyme, my regualar R1 suppliers have it on pre-order. I`ll have to go lookig for it!

Will I get taxed by customs if I order it? I`ll try to get it marked `As a gift`. I know I`m allowed up to £36, but does that include the p&p price?
