SUPER VCD PROBLEM

jacquester (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 17th September 2002, 08:08

I have got various SVCD`s and have a problem with a few when I watch them on my Phillips DVD711 player.

The sound on a few is always around a second faster than the actors mouth movements so is out of synch by quite a bit. My friend has tried the SVCD and it works perfect on his DVD player.

Other SVCD`s play ok on my player along with every VCD I have.

Could anybody out there give me some advice.

Could it be the different versions of MPEG used when creating the SVCD disk. Is there anyway I can convert the files from SVCD to my PC and change the format before writing it to a new CDR??

Any help would be very grateful

Some DVD players seem to have problems with SVCD which cant be fixed!

As you said you could copy the Mpeg 2 file from the disc and re-convert it as I have does a few times. Use TMPGEnc to convert.

Quite a few players seem to have this problem (not just svcd but vcd too). Usually you have to live with it - I`ve never cured it by re-encoding it - if you try to play it on a PC for example it is usually fine. It can be caused sometimes I`ve found by `fast-forwarding` the film. Maybe some players just struggle with re-synching the sound and audio. Quite often pausing and re-starting can stop it though..
