Waiting for those Special Editions?
We all have our favorite films, the ones we grew up with!!
I have started to ease off buying older films as I know that one day a Special Edition will be released and pi** me off after buying the first version that came out.
Here is a list of films that I personally would like to be released as Special Edition - ( 2 Disc with lots of features - that`s what we all like - isn`t it?)
Batman
Batman Returns
The Lost Boys.
The Crow - released on the 27/01/03 - hope it`s not pants.
Gremlins
Disney`s The Black Hole
Top Gun
Face off
Nikita
Flash Gordon
Some films I have bought and wished I had held off a little longer...oh well!
Shrek
A Bug`s Life
Highlander - Directors Cut - Awful picture quaility - was cheap though
Star Trek - First Contact
Romeo & Juliet
Point Break - I just know Fox will release a special edition one day!
Titanic
Twister
Tarzan - Normal version
What films do you wish the studios would give a fresh lick of silver paint?
RE: Waiting for those Special Editions?
Cocktail??, just to see all the cock ups and mess Mr Cruise made making the drinks...i.m sure there would be some funny moments oh and Ms Shue in the waterfall as well!?!?!?!
Also Canonball Run and smokey and the bandit 1-3 digitally remastered also some funny outakes..
RE: Waiting for those Special Editions?
Gremlins has already been released as an SE, although it`s not a massive improvement over the first release.
I`ve been quite lucky with special editions, in that I`ve only bought a few duplicates. The main ones I got clobbered with were Pulp Fiction, True Romance, Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs. I bought the R2 versions of the first three, and the R2 of the last, but thankfully they cost less than a tenner each. The SEs are such a big improvement it was worth it.
Still waiting for First Contact, even though the current release is really cheap. I`m still waiting for an SE of Goodfellas though.
RE: Waiting for those Special Editions?
Ahhh yes...Goodfellas, great film.
Seems that Warner Bros have a lot to answer for when releasing their crop of films....
Batman, Goodfellas, Twister, Payback....
Though, they have released titles with lots of features on them - even for single discs,
Matrix, Deep Blue Sea, The Exorcist, Superman, Scooby Doo - yes I have bought Scooby Doo, not watched it yet....that`s for Christmas day if their is a load of s**t on the box.
What about The Goonies, Firefox, Leon, Superman II. These films have to get released as SE at some time
RE: Waiting for those Special Editions?
I would like to see special editions of:
Titanic
True Lies
Home Alone
Mission: Impossible
Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves
The Shawshank Redemption
Clint Eastwood/Sergio Leone Trilogy
LA Confidential
Superman 2
Batman
RE: Leon, The region 1 International Version is supposedly the special edition. I have it and its great.

RE: Waiting for those Special Editions?
True Lies SE is pencilled in for the end of 2003 or possibly 2004 depending on committments from Lightstorm. :**(
There`s a huge Fox chat transcript about Fox DVD releases over at The Digital Bits: http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articles/120202htfchat.html

RE: Waiting for those Special Editions?
Re "L.A. Confidential" - isn`t the current edition quite good extras-wise?
RE: Waiting for those Special Editions?
The R1 version of Leon is excellent. Lots of extra footage, which really expands on the relationship between Matilda and Leon. A real shame it was cut from the original (and R2) release. Well recommended!
Anyone know if Titanic SE is on it`s way? And does anyone know if the BBC plant to get their brain in gear and re-release Reeves and Mortimer`s Randall and Hopkirk Deceased in wide-screen rather than full frame (considering it was originally broadcast in widescreen, it`s a touch annoying that the DVD is 4:3).
RE: Waiting for those Special Editions?
Has to be Goodfellas, Batman and Gremlins, how come with the recent "special edition" of Gremlins they complete forgot any extras do it again and do it properly, I`ve heard Goodfellas is on the way next year
RE: Waiting for those Special Editions?
it may sound odd, but I`d like to see Stressed Eric on DVD.
