Page 1 of Does the Wharfedale 750 play VCD`s

I was interested in buying the Star Wars Trilogy on VCD, but the Wharfy manual says that it does not support CDV`s??????

Any advice would be appreciated guys.

Now I am very confused, I just got an e-mail from Technical at Wharfedale, and they tell me 750 (not 750s) does not play VCD`s, but they also claim in the manual it doesn`t play redion1. So what is the story?

I have a 750 and I own region 1 discs with RCE and over 20 VCDs including Star wars Trilogy and they all work perfectly.

RCE didn`t work on my 750. You either have a 750`s or a new generation 750. When did you buy your player?

My system was one of the first. Go to www.dvdchips.co.uk. They sell a replacement chip to sort out your RCE problem for £20.

I was able to watch VCDs before the upgrade.

Re - Star Wars on VCD

I was thinking of getting this, Is the quality any good? How much did they cost? Do you know when the DVD`s are coming out? Where is the best place to buy it?

Any other info on this would be appreciated

Carlito........i believe the 750 is exclusive to Tescos.....maybe, maybe not. Maybe my missus is a mis-informed tescos employee...haha

Bought them on Saturday for 38 quid from Chinatown in Manchester, (New East Games), the quality is good, no widescreen but on the plus side, unlike many other Asian VCD`s, it doesn`t have subtitles. I`ve bought every other SW video set and was waiting for the DVD`s but I`ve heard they won`t be out until after the release of Episode 3, although Menace will be out this year

On the whole if you can`t wait and don`t want to buy another set of videos and watch the tape quality gradually fade, they`re definately worth buying
