Terminator Special Edition - Dreaded Foggy Disc Discovered

redtom (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 25th February 2003, 10:49

hi folks

i have the special edition terminator disc, but haven`t watched it in the past while. i`ve also been aware of the dreaded foggy disc issue but never got round to checking out my own disc. last night i had a moment and did so and, lo and behold, what a load of fog, all over my lovely shiny discs.

i`ve read about the wash with soapy water answer but (and here`s my query of the day) i`ve never been able to establish if this solution was a p*** take or if it was serious?

should i risk the blessing of the god of all idiots or should i be getting on to whoever i got it off for a replacement?

cheers,

red

I just used warm water and a soft cloth. No problem. It`s notactually disc rot, but rather a chemical reaction to that clear plastic case which it`s in. I justwashed it, and then kept the discs in a paper sleeve which I keep in the box.

Put it this way, if you wash it and it doesn`t work, then send it back, got to be worth trying at least.

It`s definitely not a p***-take, it does actually clean the discs up a treat.

Give it a try.

This is one of the many titles manufactured by Technicolor which suffers from this problem.

I have a copy of Bound ( also manufactured by Technicolor ) which had the same problem and gently washed it in a mild solution of washing up liquid/water using a spectacle cleaning cloth. This cleaned the fogging and it has not returned. The disc continues to play perfectly.
