The film is meant to be released in cinemas in the US and Europe withing the next few months though with MiramAxe as the distributors Christ himself doesn`t even know the exact dates. This means that the dvd will be available in R1 / R2 towards the end of the year (November) - the region 3 release is all region so you should be able to play it on any machine. It`s anamorphic, has got a 5.1 soundtrack and comes with English subs. My disc is currently en route to Ireland but can anyone confirm if it`s a region-free release?

I just got Hero this morning (for £7 from dddhouse), and the picture (anamorphic 2.35:1) is good and the sound (5.1) is even better.
But I just looked at their site and they are doing a two disk version with DTS sound for a few pound more!

im a bit confused here. i have seen it advertised on several sites, 5star laser and pokerindustries to name but 2, which seem to be one disk, no dts and a making of docu. now this one on dddhouse has 2 disks with quite a more rounded set of extras, as has been said above. they both seem to have different covers. i am going to be emailing a friend who lives in hong kong over the weekend to have it sent, but want to know which is which, as they will just walk into a shop and pick the first one up they see, unless i can be specific to them.

cheers.

I think the single disk release is the chinese release. The double disk release is the Hong Kong release on the Edko label though whether this is the final release rather than the rumoured 120 minute version is difficult to say. Anyway surely it would say on the box if its a single dvd or a special edition with two

Got my disc yesterday and watched the movie last night. All I can say is WOW... this film kicks Crouching Tiger`s ass in every way. The anamorphic picture is excellent, the sound is fantastic, the story is engrossing, the cinematography is stunning, the fights are beautiful (can I say that?), the subs are well done, the music is perfect, the acting is genuinely moving (why can`t Jet Li get roles like this in the US) and the story is captivating.

The only negative thing I can say about the movie is that some of the cgi was a bit below par especially a few of the "arrow" shots. Apart from this very, very minor issue the movie exceeded my expectations and then some and I`ll definitely be investing in the extended version when it comes out... get it.

Just got mine this morning. Very good, but I think it`s a close second to Crouching Tiger in all departments, with the possible expection of acting.

can i ask, is the one you have the single disk release that has been on various websites for a few weeks, or this 2 disk one that is now on dddhouse?

cheers.
