A lonnnnnnnng time ago, in a sitting room far away, a young chap watched a film on a Sunday afternoon (whatever happened to them - marines, Bader, Wayne and Murphy) - it was about a group of men exploring or looking for treasure and they were climbing up this rock-face and there were glitters coming off the rock? It was before I discovered illegal inhalation substances btw.
Don`t know if it was colour or b/w c`os we didnt have a good enough signal for colour then - Oh yes, things were surely better in those days ;)
Cheers
Nick

"Mackenna`s Gold" perhaps? http://us.imdb.com/Title?0064615
A western, where Gregory Peck find a map to some old treasure, and Omar Sharif is the baddie. I seem to remember a scene similar to what you`re describing.
I will check it out, many thanks.

Yep, certainly sounds like "McKenna`s Gold".
It`s definitely MacKenna`s Gold - one of my all-time favourite movies and a movie I`ve always said (to any of my friends who`d listen) SHOULD be remade. It`s also notable for Julie Newmar`s swimming scene which is guaranteed to raise a few pulse rates.
I recently got the region 2 dvd which looks fantastic and has been remixed into quite an effective 5.1 track. Highly recommended.

The film is a decent enough western but it`s got an apalling soundtrack that makes me cringe.
If you mean the music, it was by Quincy Jones and sung by Jose Feliciano.
I quite enjoyed it.
Hi is that the movie an old indian gets shot in the beginning by peck and i seem to remember buzzards hovering around quite alot in the movie.
