MGM does not own the rights to "Return", Universal does.

Universal released "Return" a few years ago(although it was so poor quality,I feel it maybe licensed to a cheapo label-anyone confirm that?).It was actually an ITC production,so it should actually belong to Carlton. As the disc is deleted maybe Carlton have one planned.
The R2 version was a dreadful 4:3 P&S monstrosity, certainly not worth the rip off prices its going for on ebay. You can get a R1 version,in widescreen for about £10.99

The Universal R2 was released by Universal UK, formerly Polygram, apparently a completely different outfit to the boys and girls who do the big releases. The RPP disc was a pan and scan port-across from a knackered VHS master. There`s terrible print fading top and bottom of the frame and IIRC, a ghastly green tinge like the film had been processed by one of those street corner one-hour-photo outfits (the ones who change their chemicals every other year).

The R1 print by Artisan is in its original aspect ratio, but non-anamorphic widescreen. The image is better than the R2, but of course at much lower definition.

It`s high time somebody did a proper restoration job, and included the extensive outtakes.

I bought this at DVD Pacific a couple of weeks ago for about £3.25 plus postage. The quality is not great but it`s perfectly watchable.
I mean the Return of, not the Boxset!

That explains it.Polygram owned the ITC library until Carlton bought it quite a while ago.Judging from the description above I would say the R2 version is not worth even £3.25,especially as the new set has the others in tip top quality.Get the R1.If you have R2 only player-I have known Artisan to release the odd title with no region coding

Just to confirm, the one I bought from DVD Pacific is the Artisan release in widescreen 1.85:1 aspect ratio. It says it is "digitally mastered"!
