I was wondering if the Region 2 version is any good. What is the print like. Is it better to get the criterion version? I really dont want to spend that much on it

which version? there`s about 10 of them out there..
I`ve not seen anything except the Criterion disc so all I can say is that since this one is a cleaner print than any other version, the others must be average. The CC version also has more extras, if that`s your thing, including the complete radio play version and an audio commentary.
As far as just plain DVDs go, I think a standard R2 edtn would be acceptable if you were after just the film itself.

Just don`t get the Robert Powell version. ;)
That`s a good point, I`d forgotten there are quite a few different ones out there. Hitch all the way!

I heard they were remaking it in a modern version. If I remember correctly it is going to be called `The Lift`. :p
I just got the R1 cheapo version from DVD Pacific for about £1.50. ;)
I haven`t seen the Criterion print, but MichaelDVD claims its nothing to shout about.
