Region 1 DVD Sales in Central London
Hey,
I know a few of the places to buy Region 1 DVD`s in London - but if anybody knows any others, I`d love to check them out, especially if their prices are good.
RE: Region 1 DVD Sales in Central London
I know one place but the prices are a joke! when pirates of the caribbean came out on region 1 I saw someone pay £30 for it! I nearly slapped him round the face...
I bought a mag in there and the fellow said, "going for the cheaper option then?"
What a p155take - the cheaper option is the internet... chump!
where is good/cheap then?
...ain`t no thing.. like a chicken wing...

IGNORE THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!
This is those people that are trying to sting shops that sell R1 material. Notice how they don`t mention any places in the original post. Just ignore it, if they`re too lazy to go out and find out, then they don`t deserve to find out here ;)

would agree with you chewie, seeing as the guy only joined at 2 this arvo, and the `about me` bit of his profile is incredibly detailed for a newbie
However, from only one post, it`s kinda thrown the post counter out:

Notwithstanding the fact selling Region 1 DVDs on the High Street is actually breaking the law, of course...

If that`s the case then why is HMV in the Trafford Centre selling a few titles as `imports`!
Can this mean we can get them closed down along with Virgin! Wiping out the over priced high street stores will open up the market for the smaller independant sellers.

According to the Video Recordings Act, DVDs have to be certified by the BBFC before they can be sold in the UK. The relevant classification symbol (U, PG, 15 or whatever) must be displayed on the packaging and on the disc itself.
This makes it illegal to sell most non-UK DVDs. (Region coding has absolutely nothing to do with it - it`s just as illegal to sell Region 2 DVDs from, say, France as it is to sell Region 1s.)
There are certain exemptions to this rule, however, such as music videos. If HMV were to import some music DVDs from the US and sell them, they`d be within the law.

Presumably, Mike, that`s to do with the fact music titles are generally E for Exempt (mind you Duran Duran`s Girls on Film and Prodigy`s Smack my Bitch Up would fall foul, surely ?)
