Comic Books that should be made into films...

Ben Franklin (Reviewer) posted this on Monday, 9th February 2004, 15:25

We`re all aware of the trend for turning comic books into movies at the minute, and with Fantastic Four, Constantine, Silver Surfer, Punisher, Batman V, Superman and Hellboy all being in production or being queued up for production, we are rife with comic book adaptations. But can anybody think of any other comic books they`d love to see being made?

I think that from the way Bryan Singer managed to make X-Men work so well on screen, that with a great script a Justice League of America film could be potentially great. I know there already is one, but I`ve seen a bit of it and it looked pants. I mean a proper big budget version of it.

So, any other comic books people would love to see turned into a film? :D

Transformers. A live action film. The animated film rocks, but I really want to see the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out in a real environment (obviously mostly CG, so technically not real). It would have to be the generation 1 "look", because that`s where it all started. Can you imagine the intro of a big red truck, only to discover it`s Optimus Prime! 8)

Do not be alarmed. That strange sound is simply
my mind boggling.

A proper dark 18 version of Spawn would be awesome.
Still waiting for a decent Punisher, as the Thomas Jane one looks almost as bad as Dolph`s lame attempt.
Raimi`s 30 Days of Night should be awesome.
The Red Star could be fantastic

Some good ideas there, especially the Barberella remake. Has one of the best film introductions I`ve ever seen. ;)

Yeah The Punisher looks like it`ll be crap. Could`ve been done with a real dark tone, but instead it seems to be set on the beaches of Hawaii.

BTW, spent a couple of hours in Forbidden Planet megastore in Oxford Circus yesterday; man if I was rich I`d love to collect some of the stuff from there. Has anyone seen the Matrix APU toy? They`ve got classic horror film 13" models which look really good too, as do the brilliant Lord of the Rings weapons.

Constantine sounds like its going to be a bit duff, i mean well off the original setting...

Keanu Reeves being an American Constantine who lives over a bowling alley aided by a sexy female cop he once condemned to hell??? i know Hellblazer has some messy storylines but i think i musta missed that on :/
