Discworld animations

Snaps (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 3rd April 2004, 07:39

There appear to be some Discworld animations available which I must admit have passed me by completely. Reviews I`ve read on these don`t seem to take any middle ground being either "Wow fantastic" or "Don`t touch them at any price".
Just wondering what any of you lot think.

I`m currently trying to read through the whole Discworld series in order of release (great thing Libraries but they don`t always have them in) and I`ve just finished Soul Music.

There are(were) two available - Soul Music and Wyrd Sisters.
they`re not the ideal Diswcworld movies (almost impossible), but there are some great things in them
Christopher Lee as DEATH for a start.
Made by Cosgrove Hall who did Danger Mouse, they were originally shown on C4 I think

EDIT : just checked they are available from Play for £6.99 ! A bargain if you ask me!!!!!!!!!
(oops, slipped in to Opera Ghost mode there - Discworld joke - if you haven`t read Maskerade you won`t get it)

Thanks. I may dip my toe in and try one.
Just started Maskerade so don`t quite get it yet.

Now if we could just persuade Peter Jackson that a Discworld movie is a good idea....

Yeah but live action would be crap. Animated suits the series so much better.

They arent bad, and at that price well worth it. Soul Music is the better of the two (but then i`m not a "witches" fan, so Wyrd has a disadvantage from that point of view)

Neither are perfect, but are enjoyable imo
