RE: Currys - 17.5% Cashback on Egg card 30/05/05
thats a great deal, essentially vat free purchases from currys on the 30th. Cheers for the post, been after a Xbox for a while, think i may have to make a quick payment on my egg card :p
RE: SE S700i - only £225 minimum term cost on contract? surely not!
still great price but a bit of a downside, Vodafone s700i`s have a horible firmware vereion on them apparently which stops certain things like mp3 ringtones and basically makes the phone run like a dog (this is from a mate who works for cpw, and has had the phone). Worth looking at the 02 offers, maybe not as cheap but the branding is less and functionality is increased slightly.
RE: SE S700i - only £225 minimum term cost on contract? surely not!
cheers, brother`s just decided he wants an s700i so this is ideal, been looking around and this is easily the cheapest i`ve come across so far.
RE: ASDA - Martini spirito cranberry - 275ml only £0.25
i thought all the staff had pinched this:p
tis a good bargain if its on general sale.
RE: Words or sayings you have invented and should be in general use.
surely a group of chavs is a train as in "chavchavchavchavchavchavchavchav OIOI!!" quite often as a band of them approach me or a mate will declare a train is coming.
Oh and an extremely flukey/lucky person is "blob boy" cos they are a jammy cheshire hunt
RE: Discworld animations
They arent bad, and at that price well worth it. Soul Music is the better of the two (but then i`m not a "witches" fan, so Wyrd has a disadvantage from that point of view)
Neither are perfect, but are enjoyable imo
RE: 50% off at BBC Shop
cheers for this, just got
Jonathan Creek S1+2
Brittas Emipre S3
Porridge S3
Cruise of the Gods
Big Train S1+2
all for just over £50!
RE: That odd looking woman in BBC-1`s Hustle
the melon trick: SPOILER:
surely it was just the sound that was wanted, a blank in the gun and something on the head to make it look like a shot?
RE: Where can i buy a new LOTR Felowship collectors boxset?
if u can get to a virgin megastore you might be lucky, my local one had a big pile by the back door, pricey tho (£45!!!!)
RE: Mah Boomerang Won`t Come Back!!
have you waved the thing all over the place? practisced until your blue in the face? are you worried that you are a big disgrace to the aboriginee race, because your boomerang wont come back?
well, if you want your boomerang to come back, first you have to throw it.
RE: SKY PLUS TWIN RECORD FEATURE
didnt think u could watch a third? only somehting you`ve previously recorded (only two signals go into the back, and you`d need three to watch/record 3 seperate channels surely?)
RE: Disney era preferences...
old ones, Robin Hood is my favourite!! havent seen half the new ones mind, just dont appeal.
RE: So who here thinks `The Hobbit` and `The Silmarillion` will be made soon?
agree with the thought that Silmarillion would make a better miniseries than a film, for the reasons craig mentions above. Its a great book, unfortunately people tend to read the first "story" and give up, which is a mistake as its quite weak, the book does get better, got everything that would make for compulsive viewing imho.
RE: Two Tower for £12.99
no it doesnt, dont think any 2 disc release has a dts track (although i`d imagine it will appear on the 4 disc like FOTR)
Is this the R3 version in the tin????
RE: Films u hated in the cinema but enjoyed on dvd.....
possible stupid question but why did you buy it if you hated it in the cinema??
I havent bought anything i didnt like, but then i dont get to the cinema much.
RE: So what movies AINT you seen that everyone else seems to have seen??
well baring Reloaded and TTT I havent seen any of the ones mentioned (and plenty more besides!)
off the top of me head
Saving Private Ryan
Godfather (all parts)
Apocalypse Now
RE: Lord of the Rings : Return of the King?
The ending to the book is good IMO, but i seem to remember hearing that it would be changed (like large chunks of TTT)
Also looking forward to a trailer!
RE: Bumper Stickers
Love your enemies, it really confuses them.
If you can read this, i can slam my brakes on and sue you.
RE: Monty python and another DVD re-release damn-it !!!
although unsure about the MOL, the reason there was a new version of LOB was due to the rights changing hands i believe (and still iirc its nowhere near as good as the excellent Criterion version)
If your R1 enabled there is a release date for the new MOL 2nd of septmeber, with (hopefully) these extras
Eric Idle introduction; Commentary; Deleted Scenes; "The Meaning of Making the Meaning of Life" Featurette; "the Songs" Featurette; "Snipped Bits" Featurette; Un Film de John Cleese; "Songs Unsung" Featurette & "Education Tips" Featurette; "Fish" Featurette / "Re-mastering a Masterpice" Featurette; "Song and Dance" Featurette / Virtual Reunion & Selling the Meaning of Life
I for one am really looking forward to this (although i also gave in and bought the barebones version not that long ago)

RE: Philips DVD 580HC Home Cinema DVD Player £170!!!!!!
DTS playback out of the box yeah??? any idea if this is multiregion or not either?
RE: x-men 1.5 r2 £10.99 @ cdwow
assuming it is the UK R2 (and any i`d guess) there is a English for the hearing impaired subtitle track (listed on the box)
HTH
RE: How to repair scratched DVD`s
you could try thatzdvd, they repair dvds for £3.50 iirc, havent used myself but have heard good things (over at dvd forums, i "think" they are sponsors over there)
www.thatzdvd.com should be the address (might be co.uk) worth it if the disc is completely dead imo.
RE: Help with new phone please.
the wap access thing i can help with (bought the phone meself and bunged my vodafone sim in it, spent 10mins trying to work out why i couldnt get wap access!)
You`ll need to change the wap settings (if memory serves, service options, settings, connection settings, then choose an empty on) then fill in all the details from the following
do a google search for Virgin mobile wap settings and you should find a site that will tell you all the appropriate settings. I cant look now (about to go offline) but if you havent found it by 2mo i`ll have a quik look and post the addres
RE: TWO TOWER DVD ARTWORK????
ah, probably the only one that thought the FOTR was superior, if only because it was more faithful to the book (at least more faithfull than TTT, which all tho a very good film, wasn`t quite "right" for me.)
RE: Championship Manager
Has anyone joined the Champmanx forum on the basis of this, i`ve got it on the dvdforums as well and the admin and i (of CM) have decided to offer a prize to one or two members who join by Tuesday. The prize is only a copy of the CM mag but it will be ordered online to arrive by the Fridayof release hopefully.
(sorry if this treads on the toes of anyone over here, not my intention just didnt think it was fair not to offer it here as i was elsewhere)
Championship Manager MAY AS WELL CLOSE NOW PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
Hi all, with the impending release of Championship Manager 4 (albeit just about in time for the end of season, well planned SI!!) a friend and I have set up a chamionship manager forum (very small at the moment, but everything has to start somewhere!!) and would greatly appreciate any feedback (and new members, give me someone to mod hey!!)

RE: Please Sir! at dvd.co.uk

Interestingly enough splash dvd (www.splashdvd.com) have made the same mistake for a pound cheaper, i`ve gone for both cos a mate at work will want a copy.
