Page 1 of Woody Allen movies ... which one`s would you recommend

I`ve never seen a single Woody Allen film but as Play.com are selling many of his films for around a fiver, I thought I might get 4 or 5.

Which one`s should I go for ?

Most of his films are simply brilliant. If you insist on buying ONLY five, pick up these:

Bananas
Annie Hall
Manhattan
Broadway Danny Rose
Hannah and Her Sisters

`Broadway Danny Rose` is a personal favourite. Also - Annie Hall for sheer inventive genius (though it`s been ripped a hundred times) and (of course) ...Manhattan. ;)

Oh ... avoid `Stardust Memories` :/

for oldies (that haven`t been mentioned) : Sleeper / Take the Money and Run
for a newer one : Sweet and Lowdown

it depends on your sense of humour!
if slapstick go for the early ones Bannanas, take the money and run, Sleeper,,Love and Death
If your interested in repartee the middle period: Annie Hall, A Midsummers Nights Sex Comedy, Broadway Danny Rose
Then theres the ironic human condition ones Manhatten, Stardust Memories, Hannah and her sisters,

I preferred his earlier slapstick and just find him annoying in his later work. Not denying he`s an excellent filmmaker, mind you. And I can`t believe nobody`s mentioned Zelig.
