Having just recently watched and enjoyed (im not scared) at the cinema, and (city of god) which has to be a true classic, there surely must be loads of must see foreign films out there. Anyone got any titles for me ............... much appreciated.

Check out `The Tin Drum`. (German). Also `Les Egout Du Paradis` which I reviewed a week or two back is really good. Not all `foreign` films are `arthouse` movies - though the french do seem to have a filmic style all of there own ... ;)

There are loads of `foreign films` out there but, more to the point, what is your prefered genre?

I`m Not Scared and Ringu are totally diverse films. But if you do not like `scary films` then I would not recommend Ringu.

The main point being is that there are much more interesting films beyond the`Hollywood` niche that many people would find much more appealing if only they would give them a chance. I personally prefer to be scared s***less and the Region 3 arena brings out some excellent ones to satisfy me.

If you like a good laugh and have a passing interest in football try `Shaolin Soccer` .....bloody hilarious!!!! ;)

Hero (Jet Li) is visually stunning to watch.
Anatomy (Franke Potente), is pretty cool.
Taxi 1,2,3 (French), are all pretty funny (others may disagree)
Swimming Pool (arty)
Amores Perres
the list goes on...

Here are a few I have been watching over the last few months and enjoyed

Lagaan - Indian film about a small village forced to play a cricket match against the British to avoid paying crippling taxes. The best film about cricket ever

Rashomon - a Kurosawa film which looks at a murder from a number of different viewpoints as told by those involved. Any Kurosawa historical film is great in my opinion

Run Lola Run - German film with great pace (almost like a pop video in places)

Terror At The Opera - horror from Italian maestro Dario Argento - the plot may be full of holes but his style is terrific. Any Argento film is worth a look

Dark Water - creepy Japanese horror
