Hellboy - Director`s Cut for UK cinema release?

From CHUD

Quote:
Those people in England and the other parts of the world who haven`t seen Hellboy yet might appreciate this bit of info: I think they`re getting the longer director`s cut of the film when it hits theaters over there. Granted, that info might not soothe their extra five month wait all the way to the bone but it should help. The longer cut has some really cool and incredible scenes that ought to flesh out some of the speedier segments of the film. One gripe I heard from some people was that the movie moved too fast, a concern that might be defeated.

Expect the worst and you won`t be disappointed

Moved too fast? It`s one of the dullest films I`ve seen for a very long time. I hope we do get the director`s cut, maybe they`ll include plot and character development this time..

There was also something in this months Empire magazine about the extended edition being a UK cinema release however it did state that the extra scenes would not be finished in time for the UK cinema release so we might only get the normal version of the film!
I will be very dissapointed if we get the normal version of Hellboy after all these 6 months of waiting to see this film!

is any of this official or is it just gossip, :p

if it is oficial when will we be getting the dvd directors cut, as hellboy is out to buy at the end of july in the states and it does not mention that its a diffrent version to what was in the cinemas. so i will asume its not a directors cut.

Nothing that I have read about it so far seems offical but the only places I have seen this mentioned is in Empire magazine in their ask Empire section as somebody was asking why the delay in the release of Hellboy in the UK by 6 months. The answers involved some rubbish about finding the right date to release it and then they mentioned about the extra scenes being included in the UK release!
The other place was on the CHUD website where it stated that the UK release would be the extended edition.
The DVD that is released in America in September will the original US cinema version and then the extended version will be released on DVD in America in December. The fact that the extended version is not out untill December makes me think that the UK release will only be original version of the film.
It looks like we will have to wait untill September to see what version we get!

The 5 month delay was just asking for people to pirate, in my opinion.

If it had a simultanious release or at least a month staggering, i would have waited and gone to see it at the cinema. But i was so pumped up about the film (it was one of the only films i was looking forward to this year) I just had to see it.

As a result i discovered that it was pretty lame so im not going to bother going at all.

I realise it did pretty poorly in the US, but 5 months?!?!?! Jeebus...... How can they possibly justify that?

I am still looking forward to seeing it even after some average reviews about it. It cant have done too badly at the American box office if they are considering doing a sequel!
On CHUD somebody emailed in with a question about Hellboy which is below:

"Mark Writes: I just read your info about us Brits getting an extended version of Hellboy when it finally gets its ass into the cinemas, I just read in a recent edition of Empire that it might not actually happen. Guillermo Del Toro said he hopes he can get the extended version into UK cinemas, but due to time constraints it seems unlikely.
Nick`s Reply: I`m going to talk to Mr. del Toro this week. I`ll get to the bottom of this. As of Thursday of last week (well after EMPIRE was printed), things looked good."

So it looks like the UK might be getting the extended version of Hellboy!
