The Beginning........Where to start with someone who hasn`t watched any films????/
Ola Cowpolks!!
I recently had the good fortune to meet someone who had hardly watched any films. I got to thinking......how could I possibly devise a playlist that would traverse all the medium, it`s emotions, it`s classics!
What should be in and what should be out!!!! this is a toughy - so can you help me out?? I need good reasons why these films should be included.

Ask the person what he/she is into, if that person likes, drama, then we`ll recomend you drama, if that person is into Romance, then we`ll do the same.
It`s hard to recommend a film to someone, my girlfriend`s film knowledge ranges from Greese to Pretty Woman, so it`s only romance and musicals she has every watched, oh and of course Harry Potter.
I`ve shown her films such as Face/off, Leon, Romeo is Bleeding, and a few James Bonds, which she really liked, but there are films I know she won`t like or she`ll get bored by, such as Star Wars, and other majority sci fi movies, complicated movies (such as Memento), Tarantino movies, horror films, and films that have bleak endings.
She`s a school teacher, so she`s not thick, or anything, but I know that she would like an action movie, such as Speed, or The Rock, but I know she won`t like The Matrix or Kill Bill.
She did TRY to introduce me to her kinds of movie, which meant I had to sit through Annie, and to this day I haven`t been able to get over that psychological trauma.

This person has no idea what they`re into. As far as I can tell - she`s seen two films!! Breakfast At Tiffany`s and The Neverending Story.
What can I say!

Captain Corellis might be a goodun. The suggestion list would be endless though.
Depends how romantic you are!!! (Jumping to the conclusion it`s a girlfriend, or a potential girlfriend, of course!)

Oh! i`m truly sorry for the Annie thing - I completely empathise - my sister watched that film religiously aged 10-13.
I`m not sure if the lady in question enjoyed the two films above or not. She`s cute, but difficult to communicate with!!

She doesnt know a bloke called well z does she?
My mate well z has got the attention span of a gnat and, to my knowledge, hasnt watched a whole film for nearly 7 years. He cannot physically sit still for 90 + minutes and, like homer, if he gets bored he makes up his own story lines.
What im listening to (if youre interested)

Well, two people I know that weren`t into watching many films (but had certainly seen a lot more than 2 :o ), I managed to convert them with 3 films... the Star Wars Trilogy. One is now a big fan of them, and the other has gotten into films in a big way (but just as a hobby).
Star Wars did it for me when I was a sprog too... never underestimate the power these films carry... :D

That made me laff that did.
Everytime we watch a film together, she`ll whisper, what`s he doin that for? Who`s he? What they up to? What they going to do? What`s that? And I`m like they`ve just told said!!!
I tried watching the first two Star Wars with my girlfriend, and she was really unimpressed, especially Empire where it just ends.
I would say start off with something light and up to date, say like Mona Lisa Smiles, even an 80s John Hughes flick like Breakfast Club, or Ferris Buellers Day Off, and then go from there.
Then go for Thrillers, such as Panic Room, Seven, Silence of the Lambs, Speed, or similar.
Then on occasion show her something that you like, which she might like, nothing to heavy like Lord of the Rings Extended Editions, but say like (these are only examples), Broken Arrow, Romeo is Bleeding, Leon, Back to the Future.
Then try her with a horror say like Halloween, Scream, Exorcist, What Lies Beneath.
Hope this helps, I`m only going by what I`m like with my lass, where she`ll point to a DVD like Usual Suspects, and say, `what`s that like?`, and then I put her off by saying, `you won`t like it`, cos I`ll only have to explain whats going on whos who and what was that ending all about!!! :/
