Michael Moore & the Oscars

Pete-MK (Elite Donator) posted this on Wednesday, 8th September 2004, 17:44

It appears Mr Moore isn`t putting Farenheit 9/11 up for Best Documentary at the next oscars. He`s putting it up for Best Film. His reason? "I`m want to give the other documentaries a chance".

I`m sure all those other documentary makers are blessing the ground he walks on for stepping aside and giving them a shot at the oscar glory, god knows they didn`t have a chance with him about.

Personally, I hope Shaun of the Dead beats his left-wing ass into the ground.

Before it gets all political, I`m just posting this as a diatribe against the sheer arrogance of the fat yank. He may have won the palme d`or, but the oscars tend to go for films with a plot for best film, rather than someone shoving their own biased views down your throat for 90 minutes

Nah, the oscar tends to go to mediocre, lowest common denominator sh*te!! Hey, thats only my opinion however just look at the best film winners for the last 20 years.

How generous of him! Fahrenheit 9/11 will hardly win the best film Oscar; it wasn`t even the best documentary this year (Outfoxed, The Fog of War etc.). Fahrenheit 9/11 was a poor documentary and deserves not to win anything - Moore gives the left a bad name sometimes and another one of those speeches - yeuch! :p

Aren`t `Scorsese` and `Oscar recognition` mutually exclusive? ;) :o

Wasn`t the reason for this because it was shown on television in another country? So the Academy has disqualified it from the documentary category, so he has to put it in the film category.

I read today(but cant remember were) that he wants 9/11 to be aired in america on or before the elections so he had to change from Best Documentary to Best Film because any doc`s nominated can not be released wirhin 9 months of the awards. If i remember were i saw this i will link it.
