Am I souless and without heart to admit that I hated this film? I liked it about as much as finding blood in my pee and coughing up things that look like pesto. The whole time I watched it I felt like someone was rubbing sugar in my eyes and pouring treacle down into my ears..
I fell asleep before the end but unless she was killed by a falling block of frozen waste from a passing aeroplane I wouldn`t have liked it any more.
Should I have seen it through?
I hated it too. In fact i would say that and Betty Blue are the two most overrated films i have ever seen.
Damn french.......
What im listening to (if youre interested)
When little Amelie`s mother got killed by the suicide jumper I thought "This is going to be my kind of movie".
But it`s really manipulative and horrible and sickly.

It`s one of my all time favourites (and also in the top 30 of all time on imdb.com).
That obviously doesn`t mean everyone will like it as we all have our different tastes.
I think it`s one of the best movies ever.....
I think perhaps if there was no sex in it it would be quite a nice family film - as a film intended for grown-ups it`s nauseating.
Though it`s all lovely to look at.

Ahh.
Are you guys still angry about Alien Ressurection?
Let it go.....
When she was messing with the guys telly and then when the suicide jumper hit her ma I thought it was my kinda movie as well.. soon after I started wishing that the suicide jumper had been grossly overweight, and taken the both of them out...
I like French films, but maybe it was too french. Also it reminded me of when I saw Chocolat - which is still in my top three reasons of why I am glad to be single at the moment..
Er Chocolat is about as French as Piat D`or (or any other second rate product the advertisers try and persuade you are liked by the French for that matter)
Most of the main characters aside from Juliette Binoche are English/American , the director is swedish and the writer English. That was definitely a chick flick (went because a female friend wanted to go as wouldn`t have bothered otherwise.
Amelie is admittedly a piece of whimsey and much lighter in style than Jeunets other films (Why is City of Lost Children practically impossible to get with english subs and a decent widescreen print aside from the US R1 !!) but still very likeable and the selection of phrases used to describe it by other posters suggests they probably prefe Miike Takashi films and may very well think Big Fish sucks too (well I like it).
Looks like Jeunets next film may head in the other direction being even more grim than his earlier work though
