Favourite Lightsaber Battle?

Now the dust has settled, i have been having a nerdly dicussion with some guy, so I figured it would be cool to find out what you guys think.

Which is your favourite Lightsaber battle in the whole sequence?

The `Best` is probably the one in TPM.

Its the first time we see a lightsaber battle between fully, fledged, fit young force users. Its also impressive because its in a fairly light area, the camera isnt too choppy and relies on the skills of the actors rather than choppy camera work and heavy CGI. Its a fairly `clean` sequence and by far the best and arguably only good scene in the whole film.

My favourite, however, is probably the ROTJ. Its the rawest and back dropped against not just a physical but emotional struggle. Very closely followed by ESB. Its inventive, we see force powers being used for the first time really and we all know what happens at the end of it.

The worst battle is probably Anakin v Dooku round 2. I cant remember a thing about it. Christopher lees head badly mapped onto a stuntman again and a fairly boring scrap. Also spoiled by the lazy `smallville` moment of knocking out a main character so he doesnt see what the other lead is getting up to.

More or less the other way about with me for exactly the same reasons.

ESB, the fight is centred on the two protaganists, Force abilities being brought into play, Luke losing badly & the revelation. With ROTJ its much more a baiting or cat & mouse game to force Luke to fight interupted by the external attack of the Death Star & the attack on Endor base.

I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

ESB for me.

But the Anakin Vs. Dooku duel in ROTS is probably the third best in that movie. It also has the best/most-convincing removal of limbs in the entire saga :D

Obi Wan has taught you well

ESB for me aswell, that background of dark emotion is an integral part of the whole essence of the film. Cracking stuff !

I can tell you who the worst lightsaber duellists in the who saga are - Saesee Tiin, Agen Kolar and Kitt Fisto vs. Darth Sidious. I`ve just watched the scene again and they went out like little bitches.

Nah!

The worst one is Anakin v Obi Wan! That fight scene could have done with a bit more thought and passion about it. In the old Star Wars novels I was led to believe that Anakin fell into the lava...as opposed to his cape simply catching fire!!

To be fair, if he fell into lava he would have been incinerated... I still thought the ending of the duel was weak. Almost as if it ended because it had to end, rather than because Kenobi had the high ground. Jedi can do all sorts of cool s***, so that shouldn`t have made much of a difference to Vader. It was very contrived. Still, the initial battle, before all the CGI, was very good. They really must have trained for that one.

Star Wars Kid vs Darth Invisibilus

I don`t care what you`re doing, it`s the idiotic way that you`re doing it.

Obi-Wan versus Darth Maul (after Qui-Gon bites the dust)

It only lasts for about 1 minute but in terms of editing, choreography, sound, framing and just the general dynamics of what a really fierce duel should be like, it just p***es over every other duel in the saga!

Just a pity the rest of the film isn`t quite on the same level. :/

That made me laugh my arse off. I cant really see what they were trying to achieve with that. If they wanted to show how much of a badass L Jackson was they should have just sent him alone to face him.

Killing off 3 Jedi in 3 seconds totally devalues everything the Jedi are supposed to be. They might as well have bent over and taken the lightsabers like prison bitches.

I know they were trying to show how hardcore Palpatine was, but his crazy pirouette leap did that ;) All they succeeded in doing was show that if you were not on the Jedi council, you pretty much sucked ass.
