Star Trek Next Generation DVD Question

carl6018 (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 22nd December 2006, 00:54

Hi there. I was thinking of getting Star Trek The Next Generation season one dvd which is in the new slimline packaging, and was wondering can anyone tell me if the extras are on it, because play.com gives a list of them while a customer review on amazon says it doesnt.
Thanks, and Merry Christmas.

And a Merry Christmas to you to. So polite

Although Play do make the occasional boo-boo with regards DVD content, other e-tailers list the features as present and the first review on Amazon does appear to be from someone who was in the same position as you trying to address the misunderstanding caused by a pretentious Trekkie who refers to himself as a `Trekker` who seemingly couldn`t find his plastic phaser if it wasn`t attached to his hip.

If no-one else appears here to give you a definite answer, you can always buy the set and return it if the extras were AWOL, under the condition that the site listed them a present.

Was watching an episode on sky recently and realised they started filming The Next Generation 20 years ago next May - 20 years! :o

The slimline packages contain the exact same content as the previous plastic box releases. Extras are there but from memory they aren`t massively overwhelming :)

There was a nit of a kerfuffle when the slimlines were announced, as Paramount stated that they would be no extras with them to justify the cheaper price.

Then someone must have pointed out that they would have had to spend money striking new masters and that idea quickly went out the window. Aside from the packaging, the discs are identical.

I hate to correct you lot but the official name for Star Trek fans back in the 70`s was Trekkers.

The media constantly used the incorrect terms of Trekkie which has basically stuck.

But does it really matter either way.

I`m a ST fan since 1970 and I don`t mind either term

Yes it does! (well, no it doesn`t really...) "Trekkie" sounds more fun - and gives the impression that you love Star Trek, but don`t take it all too seriously. "Trekker" on the other hand, sounds far too geeky(!) and serious...and is just... wrong!

Now in the great word of The Shat himself, I`m off to "get a life"... ;) :B
