What are the pro`s and con`s of buying region 3 dvd`s?

There seem to be a lot of people posting threads about region 3 dvd`s alately, in particular "Shaolin Soccer".

I just wondered what you get for your money when buying Region 3 dvd`s......ie. Picture quality and sound?

I have ordered a number of region3 discs.
the discs have all been really good quality, most come with DTS.
the pro`s is the cost, usually between £8.00 and £9.00 delivered.
the con`s are that the selection is often limited and the discs often lack the extra`s you get with region1.
but if your just after the film, i suggest region3 as the first place to look.

http://www.dddhouse.com is my personal fave, but also check out http://www.coolashop.com too - make sure you buy DVDs and not VCDs !

Another useful site for currency conversion is http://www.xe.net/ucc/

Cheers Clayts.

Have you ordered any DVD`s from dddhouse etc?

How long do they usually take to arrive & do you get charged customs & excise?

I`ve had a look on dddhouse and you`re right it`s pretty cheap, I have my credit card here with me itching to use it!!!

They are most definitely "customs friendly" - in the Notes box at the checkout type in "Gift" meaning that you should be able to order up to £36 worth of DVDs without drawing attention to yourself.

Their packaging does not make it clear where the parcel originates from (it`s a personal address in HK). Their stuff is well packaged (usually comes with a nice little bow on it !) and generally takes about 7-10 days.

You get a confirmation e-mail for the order, and a further one to say when it is despatched. I get mine delivered to work without any bother.

Great guys, thoroughly recommended.

Thanks a lot Clayts, you`ve been a lot of help.....with the sites , currency converter etc!

I have got 5 DVD`s in my cart at a total of 393 Hong Kong Dollars with shipping. Now, my mate here thinks that I`ve got this incorrect so could you please shut him/or me up and verify this!!

Using the currency converter it works out at a total of approx £35.05 British Pounds, but as that`s so cheap he thinks it can`t be true with delivery and everything in.

I`d expect that using a credit card is the best & quickest way...yeah?

Thanks.
