Jeepers Creepers R3, for your information....
Hello all,
Just had my copy delivered this morning and it is most bizarre.
The film comes spread over two discs, but not cause there are loads of extras - oh no - the film has FULL BITRATE DTS SOUND, which is kind of a rarity these days, and i can only imagine that the Japs and their poor compression techniques have resulted in the two disc affair.
However. Whilst the picture is 4;3 only, the dts soundtrack is absolutely amazing. I mean, this is no s*** hot movie (watchable, yet very flawed), but the tension in the first half of the movie had me shaking and jumping for about an hour, the bass and creepy atmospherics in the sound are simply excellent - especially the sewer pipe scene (i`ve got a turtle head poking out!).
Not of any relevance, but for those who are thinking of getting it from your local Hong Kong retailer such as http://www.collashop.com for just £8, then you know what to expect.
Pointless thread for the day over.
Westy :-)

Are you sure its not a VCD as they are over two disc & are now available with DTS soundtracks !!

No its a dvd all right. My Sony doesn`t support vcd at all, and even shows the (unusually high), bitrate information.
I`ve seen and heard the vcd`s you mention, they are absolutely appaling, this is very very good. They had the vcd on the site at Coolashop, but of course i avoided!

Westy : don`t you need an amp capable of handling the full bitrate dts signal then (he says coyly, knowing this gives his Cardiff mate the chance to boast about his shiny silver behemoth...)
RE: Jeepers Creepers R3, for your information....
All av amps that have dts can handle the full bitrate dts signal, it`s just how good the amp is at making all that uncompressed dts audio sound good that matters.
My Denon for one, makes the walls disappear and the world shake!

Correct me if i`m wrong, but arne`t the DTS trailers shown before the feature presentation on standard DVDs full bitrate, then go to half bitrate when the feature presentation begins?
Another Question...
Wouldn`t it be possibe to fit a full bitrate DTS soundtarck onto a single DVD which contains no other sound formats and extras?

Dolby Freak - hasnt a film company (might have been Fox) recently re-released some of its catalogue with no extras but enhanced (so presumably less compressed) visual and audio quality? I`m sure I read that in the news section a little while ago.

Columbia Superbit (Region One only) is what you`re referring to there, Bill.
RE: Jeepers Creepers R3, for your information....
But don`t Columbia TriStar`s Superbit DVDs also include a Dolby Digital soundtrack?, surely a full bitrate DTS soundtrack wouldn`t also fit on...would it?
Adam.
