[VIDEO] RE: Topgun: Maverick

Second trailer...

Are CGI effects that good now, or are these flying sequences for real? I know TC is a pilot, but the rest of the cast?

I find myself liking TC on screen though he appears to be a bit of a knob in real life.

This will be a definite watch though maybe when it's streamed or on Bluray.

They've been that good for a long while, if you spend the right money and give effects artists enough time.

Looks interesting, if the bit at the end with the test craft looking a bit silly!

Tom Cruise does do lots of his own stunts. He really did hang off the back of man A400M plane 5 years ago for Mission Impossible.
He broke his ankle a couple of years back too.

Yeah but there's a difference between doing your own stunts and flying a mulit-million dollar advanced military jet fighter that can easily pull enough G-force to make you black out without a lot of training. I'm not saying he couldn't fly one, more why would the studio take the risk?

Oh, yeah, I'm not suggesting that any Air Force would be mad enough to lend one of their aircraft to a film studio - or that he can even fly one.
I was just making the point that he really does do lots of his own stunts (he insists on it or won't even make them...) - and sometimes at quite a cost due to filming delays etc.  So, yeah, some studios do take big risks.

As good as that looks, I hope it's not just retreading the beats of the original...

...don't want this to turn into The Force Awakens.

Navy pilot breaks down the trailer.
So yeah, real flying sequences, real actors in planes, albeit the back seat of trainers.

The WW2 P51 Mustang in the film could well be Cruise's own aircraft? He's a qualified pilot and bought the plane then called "Kiss Me Kate" quite a few years back for around 4 Million Dollars.
