XBOX GAMES RECOMMENDATIONS

Rich_H (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 19th December 2002, 10:48

Peops,

I`m picking up an X-Box for £90 today. No games though, probably gonna buy a couple tonight. I particularly want to get a couple of sports or racing (cars not horses) games. Any recommendations?

Not many good sports I know about, but Toys R Us still have the "Buy 1, GET 1 FREE" deal on (not online).

They should have Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon (the best "live" game at moment) in the deal, they may not be stickered up as part of the deal, but they are in the deal. (Got them myself!) These two are some of the best around. Others include Rocky, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars Starfighter and a few others. I think the titles will change this Friday.

HMV are selling Project Gotham Racing for £9.99, a good racer, when bought with any other game. Halo is a game most people with an xbox rate.

Xbox has plenty of good racing games, ones to look out for are Project Gotham, Rallisport, Colin MacRae Rally 3, MotoGP, Burnout and Quantum Redshift(similar to wipeout except blindingly fast!). Other ones to look out for are Halo, Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon as was pointed out. Also Tony Hawks 4 and Serious Sam are also good fun.

Haven`t got a local Toys R Us, so might pay too much in petrol. Do you reckon it will still be on after Christmas? I`m going home after Christmas so will pop in to the one in Birmingham.
Gonna go to Game in Camberley tonight, check if they are doing any deals, I doubt it though. Will probably get Project Gotham and one of Splinter Cell, Halo and Ghost Recon.

I was gonna get the 4 game deal from Amazon, but they cancelled the sale saying it was no longer available! Will avoid them like the plague from now on. Was £178 I think, they suggested I went for a crapper deal; it`s worked out good though getting this one for £90.

Absolutely 100% try and get sega gt / Project Gotham / Colin McRae or Moto GP. Won`t go far wrong with any of those.

Still playin` SSX Tricky though!

Got the Thing used for £25 last night and I really like the game, will probably buy future games from CDWOW, in the high street they seem to want to charge £44.99; they can p*** off Game and Dixons seem to be most guilty; you have to expect that from Dixons though they`ve always been s*** with prices for everything.

Games to go for are:

Splinter Cell
Ghost Recon
Serious Sam
Sega GT 2002
Halo
Project Gotham
Tony Hawk 4
Dead or Alive 3
Colin McRae 3
Quantum Redshift

I didn`t think much of:
Mech Assault
Timesplitters 2
Amped (damn smart but boring and TH4 is a better game in the same genre)
Unreal Championship (VERY smart, but framerate probs)
Enclave (camera problems)
Medal of Honor: Frontline (PS2 game with better gfx and sound and dreadful multiplayer - was fun a year ago, not now)
